800 mile high speed trip

Just went on a 14 hr non stop 800+ mile trip on my new 2004 XLT with the 5.4. I averaged over 18 miles per gallon driving at speeds over 75mph on the interstate.

I had a 98 XLT so it was a good comparison trip.

The power at high speeds was unreal. I would kick it at 65 and it would move like a rocket.

Very and I mean very quiet. Very stable at high speeds. Best of all I was very comfortable the whole trip and the trip was driving all the way.

I was very pleased with the truck and look foward to driving this babe for along time.

Ford has done a great job on this one!!!

Wink Not Bad

I went on a little shorter trip about 400 miles on regular highway through towns and stuff. Average speed probably 65 mph through the trip and got 19.2 out of my supercab 5.4 XLT. I was impressed. My buddy has a dodge and gets about 14 on the road he said "now way". You got to love it...

So how big is the gas tank on the '04? 800/18 is 44.4 gallons.

You did mean no stops other than for fuel. Correct?

18+ mpg is great news.

Got over 400 miles to a tank. Made one fuel stop. I believe the tank is 27 gallons.
