I believe all F-150's fall into the P weight class which is the 4th digit, so you have 1FTP.
For positions 5-6-7, my vin is the body style code, X14, which is a SuperCab 133" wheelbase. You can easily call the dealer and find out what yours is. Or if you want to avoid that, post your body style and I can look it later (my sheet is at home).

Position 8 is your Engine. 5 is the 5.4L. I just scanned this entire thread and only saw 1 VIN that didn't have 5 in this position.. It also had a different weight class W. I would bet yours is 5.

The check digit is next and we can generate that. the rest is the last 8 digits.

So post your body style and we should have it.

If it's 4x4 then the code would be X14, 4x2 is X12

yeah, its the 4x4 so the vin # should be 1FTPX14594KC78864, it was ordered on 3/2/04 if that makes any difference. Thanks again for the help everyone, you guys rule!

 

....just to clarifiy, F150's with the Heavy Duty package (like me) are GVWR 8,300lbs, So they are "V" in the 4th position.

P — 7,001-8,000 pounds GVWR with driver and front passenger air bags
V — 8,001-9,000 pounds GVWR with driver and front passenger air bags

Also oddly enough the "5" stands for the 5.4L V8 and the "W" stands for the 4.6L V8....don't ask me why.


I just realized that the earlier decode thread isn't up to date for the 2004 F150.....
