GMC silverado suspension vs F150 2004 suspension
GMC silverado suspension vs F150 2004 suspension
Hi I always had Chevy Pick ups, I'm looking to change mine in some days and I want to know if the new F150 has a more confortable ride than the past design.
Does anybody has both trucks? A silverado and a F150?

A couple of months back I did extensive road testing on all five trucks. There were all 4x4 SuperCrew (4 doors) with LSD. Here are the "grades" I gave them:
Ford Lariat (also FX4) 100
Nissan Titan (off-road big tow) 95
Tundra Double Cab Off Road 85
Dodge Quad Larmie 80
Chevy Silverado LT Z71 50
At the time of the test the Chevy was the extended cab, which is the exact same chassi as the just release short box Crew Cab. I have sense re-tested just to confirm and there are no changes in my results.
Frame and body structure is one area that Ford clearly out shines all the others. You will noticie a big difference on the smooth hi-way, broken pavement, or off-road. The Chevy will be like jello in comparison.
We currently have a 2004 SuperCrew 4x4 FX4 in the family with 8,000 miles and a 2004 SuperCrew 4x4 Lariat with 3,000 miles with ZERO problems. My previous pickup was a Silverado Ext Cab with 90,000 miles. So far the Ford is vastly superior. My personal 4x4 Lariat SuperCrew is on order now, so the real test comes with 50,000 or more miles.

I don't own a silverado, but buddies do so I,ve ridden in them quite a lot.
My 2004 F150 4X4 Lariet rides better, But I won't say the silverado has a bad ride.
The reason I won't own a silverado is my own rule that my truck have a heavier frame than my lawn tractor, this is not meant to be a bash, look under one of those trucks once you'll see what I mean.
One of my buddies hooked a chain in the frame to pull a stuck truck and tore the chain through the frame. When the first of the rebuilt silverados came out they were bending the frame when they chained them on the transports.
The F150 is a sweet ride and great handling. The night I picked mine up we had a snow storm, I drove about 60 miles on roads with a high pucker factor, the truck held the road like it was on tracks. The steering is tight, the braking is straight, power and acceleration is better than I expected.

I had a 2003 Chevy Z-71. Actually I had an avalanche before that, too. Now I have a 2004 Supercrew F-150. The ride of the F-150 is much better than the Z-71. Handling is also better than the Chevy. Chevy gets better gas milage and has a much better 4 wheel drive system.
Thanks Nascar!
As I can deduct form these replies, Ford do a gret job with the F150 suspension system. Chevy alwas has been know had the better suspensions.
By the way, maybe the less MPG is for the size and wheight of the new F150 2004.
Thanks.
