Custom Multimedia Audio Install
Custom Multimedia Audio Install
I just got my truck back from the stereo shop. Its been there for a few weeks. Unlike some of the other members on here I, unfortunately, don't know how to install stuff on my own. Check out my link to see the pictures of the final result.
I am going to be out of town for the next week so I prob can't reply to any posts, but when I get back I will also put up pics of the install.
Custom dash w/ 6.5 inch screen, tv tuner, DVD, MP3, PS2, custom 10 in. sub box, XM radio, Valentine 1, even kept the steering wheel controls. All the necessities for a truck!
Let me know what you guys think....

That is absolutely amazing! If you don't mind my asking how much did all that run you? And about the dash...did you just paint over the faux wood grain?

I have to agree. That's the best system setup on a 2004 F-150 I have seen so far. You should send a picture to Ford so they can think about putting options like that in their future high end models.
thanks for all the kind words!
This shop I went to thats, really what they specialize in, making systems that look like they came from the factory. I am in boston, and unfort. I have to park in the streets so it is also a security issue for it to look factory and tough to steal.
Total install was around $6k. The reason it wa sso CHEAP is that most of the hardware I already had from my old Mustang.
The factory wood just sands right off. I am not really sure what or how the factory gets that wood on there, but it sands right off and then was primed and painted to match the color and feel of the black from the plastic/rubber shelf on top of the dash.
I have been planning this install for a while now and it feels good finally getting the truck back and having exactly what I wanted. the only thing not shown in the pictures is the flip down screen in the back. It was supposed to be installed but it came defective from the manufacturer and they didn't have enough time to get a new one in time for me to pick up the truck and go on a road trip this weekend. however, its already paid for so once I get back I will have the flip-down screen and pics of the install.

The new dash cover... is that new, or an adaptation/cutout of the old radio/lighter area?
If new, is it fiberglass or plastic that was bent to fit?

The dash is the stock dash but sanded down and then painted to match the little storage shelf on top of the dash. They had to use some plastic to square off the edges of where the reverse sensing on/off button usually is. But that is about it, there was not too much customization involved at least in terms of the dash cover...
Great looking setup. I am interested in the sub/amp setup. What kind of ten in. sub did they squeeze under the seat? Does the seat still flip up. what kind of amp/amps are you running? Only 1 amp....or 2? More pics?
Again great setup, I bet it made and will make any future road trips more enjoyable.

The LCD screen is an Accele 8.5 in. In person it looks even bigger than in the pictures!
The sub is a JL Audio 10 in. W6 anniiversary edition. and the amp is a Phoenix Gold Ti 500.4 (I think that is how the model number goes). Because it is such a swueeze putting the sub underneath the seat you do lose the ability to flip the seat up, but I figured since there is stuff under there anyways I would never really need to.
I just drove from Boston to Miami (1515 miles) and it watching DVD's and playing Madden on the way down def. made the 22 hour ride a lot more bearable for my two friends and I.
