Ford acc. bug deflector

Hi all,

I just had a look at a new F150 with a Ford accessories bug deflector installed. The clips that hold it on the hood catch the lip of the hood. My concern is will the clips scratch the paint on the hood as you slide them in?
If it does, it kind of defeats the whole idea, imo.

There are clear adhesive strips that come with the shield that you apply to the hood before sliding the two outer clips on.

The person that installed the one you saw may not have put them on.

Why not check into the 3M film that covers the front of your hood? There is a kit for the F150 I am told. I am not sure about all the areas it covers. It is pretty much undetectible and will cause no damage. I put the bug deflector on and it did take some paint off on the grill side. It now sits in the garage and I use nothing. I would like to get the film next. I had it put on our car, across the hood and on the under side of the rear quarter panel where the rear wheels kick up stones. No damage so far and its hard to detect.
