Overhead rail Snakelights Mucho$$$

Call me stupid but I bought them.... 144+tax=165$$$ Canadian

HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!

If you haven't seen one you will be shocked when you do... they look like a dollar store item. Except they come with a foam mount to hold them in the bin.

Good thing (well not all that good) the dealer received 2 pair on my order and gave them both to me (total of 4 snakelights)....still $165 WOW...
I ask how much for another storage bin.... 180!!! plus tax!!!!

Any takers for a set of new in the box snakelights ...$75 CAD.

The overhead storage system is really the only thing about these trucks that I don't like. I mean, I've got this huge plastic box above my head to hold a tiny pair of sunglasses???? Then you have these ugly looking rails running almost the entire length of the cab because you can't afford to buy more to fill up the space.

If I knew of a way to remove them without making it look worse I would.

Sorry for the rant.....bad day.

I don't really like the look of the exposed rails.....if there was more bins attached it would look better AND actually be functional.
At ~ $200 CAD for one bin I guess I'll have to put up with exposed rails

Rambunctious if you're reading this why are the prices so outrageous?

go to www.fordaccessories.com and you can buy a kit, which for 160 bucks US you get two overhead console bins, snakelights, CD case, and first aid kit. It is counterintuitive that one bin costs 100 bucks but two bins with a bunch of extras costs 156 dollars. Your Ford dealership should have told you about the ability to order the Kit (I think the kit I am referring to is the Metro kit).

Actually there are three different kits:
Metro
Interstate
Freeway
The prices range from about $100- $160 from fordaccessories.com and also from my local dealer. All kits come with two extra bins and three inserts w/the appropriate accessories for the type of kit you order.
These kits come in two colors:
Light flint gray
Light tan
Hope this helps.

Just spoke with the dealer, they are all the same with the exception of the inserts as grayflare stated. Here is how they break down:

Overhead Rail Kit

Metro $100 -- cell phone/PDA holder, CD/DVD case, dual sunglasses holder and two large storage bins.

Freeway $160 -- first aid kit, dual black and decker snakelights, CD/DVD case and two large storage bins.

Interstate $200 -- Black and Decker 75W DC to AC inverter, cell phone/PDA holder, CD/DVD case and two large storage bins.

Hope that helps...

Well it turns out my dealer reads this forum....
Boy did I get a chuckle when he asked if I was klassic...

I took back my super expensive snakelights and got the metro kit for his dealer cost.
Thanks for the info guys...

Now I have to do my part of the deal....

Hi Chris and Lance from EASTGATE FORD IN HAMILTON ONTARIO.

4 cell Maglite, about $20 or so at any sporting goods store. it is more powerful than any snakelite and it fits under the back seat behind the jack. that's my flashlight kit.

i'm just waiting for someone to complain about an overhead rail kit opening up when they hit a big bump and dropping a snakelite or CD case on their head. look out below!

Hey BrewMaster, that Maglight also fits perfectly in the side pocket on the door, along with an umbrella.

Ive got the magcharger flashlight mounted horizontally on the 20 part of the 40-20-40 seat on the lower front metal bracket. Perfect fit and out of sight also out of the way.

This is kind of a joke. They are Black & Decker snakelights and referred to as a genuine B&D item.

Now go and see how much snakelights are when you buy them at the local Wal-Mart or Canadian Tire.

This goes beyond mark-up to just plain rip-off.

Hi Chris and Lance from EASTGATE FORD IN HAMILTON ONTARIO.
Great deals on wheels!!
2 things...

1) I hope you haven't been slagging this dealer in any othere threads.

2) Does this mean the dealer can't pretend that they no nothing of the problems with these trucks? ie blown V6's, mis-aligned boxes etc

I say this because when they do happen you will need to talk to Lance. Try dealing with Ken Kerr the service manager. He's a *****-f**k slimy bastard that will screw you over several times until you get Lance/Lorne/Lowell to intercede on your behalf.
