Well, I ordered my fx4 Screw in early December. Told 6-8 weeks from order to delivery Not exactly.

My truck is still "clean and unscheduled". I have been asking my sales person what the hold up is, and he has one lame excuse after another.

Today he emailed me and told me that he looked at a "weekly commodities report" and that it stated that for the f150 with dvd system there is 0% availability and that there are not orders for these scheduled until March. So, I might get mine in April sometime. WTF???

Has anybody else heard of this? I am seriously contemplating cancelling my order and just waiting for the '05's to be available and order then.

It means that the optionis available for order, but for some reason or another they have not released it yet. Could mean there is supply problems, a production bug to be worked out, or who knows what.
2005's probably won't be availble for order for quite a while, probably early summer, and then you would be waiting for production to start.

Weight the need against the waiting time. Is it worth waiting a few more weeks or months?

From what I have seen in the past, both with Ford and GM, this is not an uncommon problem. Just be patient, it will happen.

 

You could always just remove the DVD option, and install it yourself at a later time. Sounds like the wiring harness would be a pain in the butt though...

 

Now my dealership is telling me that Ford has never put in the dvd entertainment system in any 04 f150's they have built yet. They will start in March.

Well, I guess the FX4 '04 I saw a few weeks ago with the dvd system was the ONLY one EVER made

I think he meant none were ever sent to dealers unless special ordered. Somebody must have backed out of the one you saw on the lot. It is one option that needs to come out in a hurry!

 

Also just a "heads up", if you order a truck w/o the dvd thinking that you can later install it, make sure you DO NOT get the sunroof option as they dont make a kit for that. I found out the hard way thinking they had a "half" rail kit for the sunroof trucks.
