my 2 cents. This a forum, a message board, a place to give props as well as complain and gripe. Its a place to inform as well as be informed. Part of the fun is having a sympathetic truck group to bitch and moan with.
Otherwise, its no better than trying to talk about our trucks with our spouses!

I realize that at $40k or thereabouts the well-equipped F-150 is on the expensive side in the world of trucks. But in the automotive world as a whole, this isn't a huge amount of money to spend on a vehicle. It is easy to spend about that much on a two-seat Japanese sportycar. Some of these Mercedes, Lexus', etc, hit near $100k with no problem.

What this tells me is that trucks are not luxury vehicles, but are more work vehicles for the masses. THere's no way Ford, at that price, can create and build a truck without some squeaks and vibrations. Mass production doesn't allow for that much attention to detail.

With that in mind, it *has* to be said that Ford did a fantastic job on the new F-150.

I've read some of those picky-posts and decided to moved on. If someone wants to explain a little rattle, let them. But by the same standpoint - that little vibration question, could be a warped rotor. Better to find out sooner than later.

People are really interesting creatures. An author of one of the above posts on this thread is complaining about the 'complainers' on this forum, but on 11/07/03 HE was complaining about the cigarette lighter location, bed rattles, OEM tires, etc. on HIS '04 (along with several favorable comments...to be fair).

Its not so much complaining as it is I dont want to have something wrong that can be fixed. This site has made me kind of paranoid for vibrations, rattles, shakes, etc just because I read so much here. I am beginning to figure out that I am overanalyzing my ride way too much----

I make $18,000 a year and have a $38,000 truck and a $42,000 SUV. We won't discuss on where I got the money for these vehicles, but after spending that much money on these trucks, I don't expect them to be absolutely perfect, I mean nothing is perfect when you buy it. Some of our trucks are built on Mondays and Fridays, and some are lucky enough to have been built on a Wednesday. It's just how life is in general. Nothing is perfect, period. That includes people.

Thanks for all the posts you guys, they made my morning. On the subject of irony, I was wondering if a magnet will stick to it? If not should we sue Ford as a class action?
As a recovered Nervous Nellie I can certainly understand the discomfort of those who feel the label just might fit.
I've got an '04 XLT 4WD crew cab that is a keeper for sure. I could not afford it but my wife could. She's a keeper too.
I wish you all a splendid day with no weird rattles, shudders or distorions in the windshield.

Bill...funny y'all mentioned magnets. A magnet won't stick to my hood...or any other F150 built since 1997.

...because lunar powered headlamps are much more effective - they are possibly coming in 2005, I understand. However, you cant drive on overcast or rainy nights, tho. That will be corrected in the 2006 model... but only if enough people get online and bitch and moan!

Let's face it...It's an OPEN forum about expensive trucks. And that open-ness means that the reader will need to filter out 40% of the crap that either doesn't affect them, or is posted by someone that doesn't know what they're talking about.

BUT...occaisionally someone will experience a vibration, or a sticky ashtray, and can't decide weather or not to be pissed about it until they read someones post about the same problem, and perhaps even a solution to fix said problem.

What may seem petty to you, could be really nerve wracking to someone that went out on a limb to finance a $40k truck.

I for one really appreciate this forum for the ability to educate myself about this truck...

You should too.

This thread is like the kettle calling the pot black! I was the one that started the seats! thread. Bill, with all due respect, opinions are like a-holes, everyones got one. I posted that thread since I thought this forum was one for F150 owners, who would like to discuss the good and bad things about the truck, and when it comes to the latter, I for one feel that posting this stuff overall helps get things done. I have seen a few examples where someone has had some problems with their new truck and came here for advice, and it helped them in their quest to get things right. In my opinion, this forum is the best place to get information pertaining to the new F150.

When it comes to my situation, buying a $40,000 truck at the age of 18 is quite a big deal. Especially when I am the one who has worked hard so I wouldn't have to co-sign to get the money. I bought this truck expecting what everyone on this board is expecting when buying a new ford, a strong, reliable truck which will last me a long time. Now don't get me wrong, I don't mean to offend anyone here, but when something like your seats start wearing with less than 2k on the odometer it really burns my backside. Having grown up around numerous ford trucks, I knew that this seat issue was something new since most of the trucks I am familiar with have well over 400,000km on them and the seats are showing less wear than my brand new ones. So I thought I would start a thread on one and get some feedback and advice as to what I should do.

Bottom line is this: If everyone here didn't say anything about some problems on their trucks, some of these problems might not get fixed. It may be dillusional on my part, but if this forum was expressly for slapping each others butts and complimenting each others trucks constantly, I would start feeling a little limp in the ol' wrist
