Thought this was interesting considering some of you are still waiting for your trucks.

layoffs

They handed out layoff notices to 200 people last week. No one can figure this out considering we are working 10+ hours per day and every other Saturday until July. Doesn't make much sense. Our union president said in the paper he doesn't see how they can keep up the production that they want with these layoffs.

I'll bet ya it has something to do with Dearborn Truck coming on-line sometime soon.

layoffs

Maybe, but they said they plan on rehiring them in 2005. Possibly thru attrition.

Layoffs

It could also have to do with the cut to one shift at the Saint Louis plant. They have about 1,000 workers with more seniority in Saint Louis they say are going to find jobs for, looks like 200 are going to Kansas City!

We are being told that the people laid off will be hired before they bring people from other plants. According to the union this is part of he contract, so none of it makes sense.
