Angry Another Dealer complaint

The same time I went to get my first service which was botched by adding to much oil, I asked about getting the outside temp reading corrected with the update download for my truck PCM .. and the guy told me.." the truck is very new and we aren't ready for those kinds of service requirements yet".... go figure

here is information provided by Dr No aka Mike
This is a bulletin sent to all ford dealers.

17261 2004 F-150 BUILT BEFORE 10/6/2003 - AMBIENT TEMPERATURE READING INACCURATE AND/OR POOR A/C PERFORMANCE
SOME 2004 F-150 VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE 10/6/2003 MAY EXHIBIT AN INACCURATE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE READING AND/OR POOR A/C PERFORMANCE. TO SERVICE, REPROGRAM THE PCM TO THE LATEST LEVEL USING WDS B27.10 RELEASE OR HIGHER

Your outside temp.reading may not be correct.
This bulletin is a re program of the computer system.

This is the Dealer I bought the Truck at I'm thinking of trying a diffrent one in the area.. GG

greggo I bought my truck at Barber Ford in Ventura. They were really cool and I would trust them to be straight with me. I haven't needed any service so I can't say for sure though.

I do know that the people at Kemp Ford in Thousand Oaks are crooks and *******s in general. Stay away from there.

I bought mine at "Valley Park Ford " in Chatsworth Ca because its a newer location without high vehicle traffic to deal with coming and going to get service its 7 miles from where I live... I also live close to another dealer called Vista Ford which is about 2 miles from my home... the reason I didn't buy it from Vista is they chipped my paint on my explorer... and there fix was to give me a small bottle of Touch up paint.... nice huh

Count your blessings. I had a very small defect in my Miata hood when I bought it. Made the mistake of letting the selling dealer body shop repaint it. They completely botched the job, had to take it back in twice, had to argue with them about it being worse. It was so obvious. Plus, while they had the car for the first four days, they found a need to put a little over 100 miles on it...don't know why a hood repaint would require a 100 mile test drive. Every time I look at that hood my teeth grind.

No, just touch it up yourself and be happy.

Hey greggeo.
Print out the bulletin number and give it to the advisor.
He is just to lazy to look it up.That bulletin has been out for about four months.

You know I was a bit frustrated with my almost nothing experience and I was blessed with as good as a Flawless truck... I really feel for the people with the real issues and I will cease my rant apologies to any Ford Techs that may have been offended... I will be happy if nothing really happens that's a major set back as many people already have experienced... GG

Thumbs up Dealer

I have ordered my 04 Lariat Supercab Loaded
From Elk County Ford Lincoln Mercury Sales In St. Marys Pennsylvania. Its a small older dealership, but their service, parts, and sales department are first class!! My family and I have
been buying new cars from this dealership for close to 50
years, and we wouldnt buy anywhere else! They provide
personable service. They know your name and they
always treat you with respect. Only a few more weeks
and my awesome Lariat will be here!! I can hardly stand
the wait!!!!!!!

I'm not trying to be a jerk but is it fair to say they over filled your oil when you now know thats not the case.

It holds 6.5-6.8 quarts and on the invoice it should say 7 quarts due to the fact that they dont bill out or sell 10th of a quart so they round up on the paper work.

Besides that the dealer should be jumping at the chance to prove that the can do a quailty job.

and at $1.40 a qt (at my dealer anyway), it really ain't a big deal if they charge you for a little extra oil. at most you paid $0.70 extra.
