Front center seating position safety or danger

This does not only apply to the F-150 of course, but since the government has so many other safety regulations and all cars have shoulder belts in the rear seats, I wonder why they let the front middle seat slide by the way? I know it would be "difficult" to implement a shoulder belt in that position, but is that really an excuse?

It's probably more dangerous to be in front facing the dash board with no shoulder belt than it is to sit in the rear middle seat with no shoulderbelt. Airbag does not provide much protection for the middle front passenger strapped in with only a lapbelt.

Just curious...why do you say "This does not apply to the F150..."? Many F150s have center front seats too.

The passenger air bag does inflate to protect the middle passenger.

It would not be too difficult to incorporate a center shooulder belt for the front passengers. All the new SUVs have them on their 2nd row seats.
