IF THE DOOR IS NOT ALL THE WAY OPEN AND A FINGER GETS CAUGHT IN THERE THE DOOR IF PUSHED OPEN CLOSES THE HINGE. MY DAUGHTERS TOP LEFT MIDDLE FINGER WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY SEVERED OFF. SHE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL WHERE SHE RECEIVED STICHES AND WAS REFERRED TO A HAND SURGEON. THIS HINGE SHOULD BE LOOKED AT AND POSSIBLY REDESIGNED, THE ONLY WAY TO REMOVE HER FINGER FROM THE HINGE WAS TO CLOSE THE DOOR SLIGHTLY. *LA

2004 - FORD 150 - SUPERCAB WHEN THE REAR DOORS ARE CLOSED, UNLESS THEY ARE CLOSED VERY FIRMLY, ONLY THE LOWER LATCH WILL ENGAGE. THE DOORS APPEAR TO BE CLOSED AND ONLY IF YOU PULL ON THE UPPER PORTION WILL YOU SEE A SMALL GAP OPEN BY THE ROOF LINE.*AK WHEN THE FRONT DOORS ARE THEN CLOSED THEY ALSO APPEAR TO BE SECURE AND THE "DOOR AJAR" INDICATOR DOES NOT COMES ON. BECAUSE THE FRONT DOOR ARE SECURED BY THE BACK DOORS, ONLY THE LOWER LATCH IS NOW HOLDING BOTH DOORS WHICH I BELIEVE MAY BE AN UNSAFE DESIGN.

I have noticed the transmission slip on my truck in the last month. When I gunned it in traffic it felt like it was slipping then grabs. Some times it does it and others it does not. I wonder if the CPU's software has anything to do with it.

That first one sounds like a poor excuse for some dumba$$ that hit a pole. I also like the complaint about wind noise with the windows down. That guy must be a genius!

And what about the last one - I dont get it. Why cant you drive a 4WD in the snow without chains? My Lariat has handled more than 16 inches of snow at one time just fine.

That guy sounds like an idiot

I've also noticed that cab vibration with the rear windows down. The first time I did it, I thought there was a helicopter hovering over me somewhere. That's what it sounded like.

That cab vibration is not just with the new F-150's. My wife has a 2002 Ch*vy Trailblazer EXT and it does the exact same thing. If you have the rear door windows down, without the front ones down, it sounds like a helicopter inside the vehicle. It gets worse the faster you go.

Funny thing about it was, that she noticed it first while she was by herself in the vehicle. She came home and told me about this "terrible noise" her new vehicle was making and she wasn't sure if it was safe to drive.

I went outside to take it for a test drive to see what was wrong, and of course the first thing I did was put up the rear windows so I could hear better for the noise, and I didn't hear anything.

One day a couple of weeks later we were in the vehicle together and figured out that it was caused by the rear windows being down while the fronts were up.

I love the one about the elevated pedals. I've smoked tires to the point that smoke comes in the cab, and it's never been on accident . You've got to really roast 'em for about 5 seconds, and I doubt anyone can claim that if they hit the gas on accident they couldn't immediately pick up their foot!

All except for the window vibration and tranny slipping these sound like pathetic attempts to blame Ford for their own idiocy. 'The pedals moved so I floored it and hit a pole', god please strike this person down.....OMG my daughter stuck her finger into a hinge and then opened the door and cut her wittle finger! Whaaaaaaa! violins are playing for this lady. 'Unless you close the doors all the way, they aren't closed!' Strong work Einstein. The dufus that wants to put chains on a 4x4 is pretty good too.

We live in victim society. Nobody wants to admit that their own stupidity may be the source of their problems, or face the fact that sometimes **** HAPPENS.

As for the windows vibrating, I've never heard it myself, but I guess it's possible. I usually drive with the back windows and rear slider open to generate airflow. It's both quiet and no vibrations. It shouldn't be surprising that if you open those two barn doors in the back and the air has nowhere to go that there is some vibration in the glass. Like I said I've never heard it myself so I couldn't say how loud it gets.

The tranny slipping would be a pretty disturbing problem. Other explanations could be the electronic throttle or issues with the LSD in the early production trucks. Again, no such problems with my truck.

Holy S**t how stupid can people be. Maybe the guy was smoking the tires, filled the cab with smoke and then hit the pole 'cause he couldnt see.

The women is stupid as hell for not helping her 5 year old into the truck,,hey lets just get rid of that hinge..oh yeh, thats called a regular cab!

WOW..I should have kept my 99 F150, that went great in the snow with no chains.

One thing I have to admit, my mother had a VW Jetta and if you opened just the back 2 windows, it made such a noise and vibration. It was so bad it actually hurt your ears, crack open the front windows and it went away. It was weird but did happen.

As for me, so far so good 4,000 miles and no problems, vibrations shakes, fingers caught in hinges or smoke filled cabins glad I didnt get the adjustable "smoking" pedals.

My wifes 2002 Explorer does the same.

(This is my first post but I have been reading the forum since I bought my truck on Dec. 27th, 2003. Merry Christmas to me! I really have learned quite a bit, thanks to all.)

Being a Ford Service Tech I wish I could tell you owe so many wonderful customer stories.

Tell that one lady to watch out for the hood and the tail gate they can hurt your fingers too.

Does anyone know what the deal is regarding chains on these 4x4 trucks? Is it the 18 inch wheels that are the problem? Contrary to most beliefs here, there truly are times that you need chains at least on the rear of a 4x4. In the mountains of New Mexico, we get four foot plus snow drifts - have seen them over six feet. Chains on your truck will blast you through a lot of the drifts without stressing the truck. It's also very hard to get up an unplowed, steep road in three feet of snow without chains. Curious as to why they won't fit? I have a set of chains that fit fine for the 17" wheels on my 1999 F-150 4x4 ORP. The idea that chains won't fit would be an unwelcome shock to me too and not something I have read anywhere else.

I have chains for my truck. Got them at Les Schuab. They did not have a set of chains that matched my tire size but they got a set to fit.
