Touch Up Paint
Touch Up Paint
Do the dealerships have prebottled touch up paint available? I bought an '04 XLT Ext Cab 4X4 the week before Christmas. When I took delivery of the truck, I did a fairly thorough inspection and everything looked great. Now, 3 weeks later, I have noticed a scratch about an inch long vertically on the very edge of the drivers door (like it has been opened into a concrete wall or something). Can we order it? Any ideas on a repair? I don't want them to have to sand the outside skin of the door. Ideas?
The dealerships do sell touch-up paint. I don't know if they have it for the 04's in stock yet though.
Also there is an art to using that stuff, do it wrong and it will look worse than before.
On a one inch scratch, depending on the color, I would get a small container that you can pressurize to put the paint in, with a tiny bit of thinner and try to "air brush" it on.
If you decide to brush it on, at least go get a fine artists brush and don't use the supplied "liquid paper" brush. Also use several very light coats instead of one thicker one.
Good luck
