Ok...how long ago was this?....FINALLY got my truck into the shop for the 1st oil change and had them check on the slip as well. Guess what!....it was low on trans fluid!!!!....yep there was a leak in one of the lines near the cooler. Fixed the leak, topped off the fluid....and no more slip. Nice quick fix, however now I have more questions....If the trans was low enough on fluid to make it slip....shouldn't there have been some sort of idiot light flashing or something?....secondly, I'm glad I got this documented at the dealer beacuse after ridin on low trans fluid for a while...I MIGHT have done some minor damage?...only to be picked up on later? Guess that 6yr/100,000 mile warranty may come in useful after all!

Took my truck in (on Monday April 26th) again for the 10,000 mile checkup/oil change and informed the dealer that the trans is still slipping, although, this time mostly from a dead stop. I just got it back today (Thursday April 29th) and they put in a new torque converter. (also rusurfaced all the rotors and de-glazed the pads to to a grinding noise from the pax side front and squeal from the rear). Problem solved?.....seemed to be doing GREAT....that is until I hit I94 for the 20 minute ride home and *accidently* got to between 85-90mph.....thats when my message center displayed TRANSMISSION FAILURE....and the o/d light flashed on and off. Truck didn't seem to be handling/riding any differently, but I pulled over anyway. Turned the ride off then back on....problem solved!.....what a minute lets see if it'll do it again......YEP!....but now the service engine icon/light won't go off. So back to the shop we go (tomorrow)....
Any similar situations out there???
P.S.>otherwise the tranny *seems* to be doing good....the brakes too!

I have the 3.73LS and I swear I can feel a slight slip in mine sometimes, and my truck only has 100 miles on it!!!

speaking of leaks....
At 57 miles and the second day of ownership, I noticed a "spot" on the garage floor. Turns out my rack and pinion was leaking. Between my wife and I, we had 5 different japanese cars and SUV's in the garage over the last 8 years and never a drop. I buy my first american car and the first night it leaks on my floor.

will do....they've still got it, may not have it back until the end of the week now (05-07-04).
I took my truck in for an oil change and spoke of the rear end and/or trans slipping. Service dept. asked if the throttle response was slow too. I commented, "Seems slow getting that 300hp when I need it".
So they did a flash update.
I was amazed at the difference! I was getting a slip at almost every stop before, now I've only had one. What I feel now is that the PCM is controlling the power shift somewhere between engine and rear drive train. Almost as if now there is a lot more control between stop and go and the clunky feel somewhere between first and second is gone.
Seems strange! I thought it was mechanical related, but I am amazed and the difference a simple flash of the PCM did for this problem. It has improved the trucks general performance greatly not to mention the gas consumption.
Anyway, just my thoughts...
