Question Is 8 weeks a reasonable expectation for delivery?

I'm getting ready to order. I want to have the truck by May 1. If order it on March 1st, can I reasonably expect it to arrive by May 1st? What's been the experience of you who have done a factory order? Should I order sooner to be sure I have it by May 1?

What I plan to order:
F-150 XLT SuperCrew 5.4L V8 4x4 DSG/Silver
Deluxe Mirror Pkg. Trailer Tow Pkg.
3.73 LS Rear,
2 tone 40/20/40 front seat, power driver seat
Cassette/single CD radio
Keyless entry keypad
Power Adjustable Pedals, Rear Window Defrost
Reverse Sensing System
Black Running Boards

Thanks for your help.

If you receive it in 8 weeks, consider yourself lucky. Most are waiting much longer than that. Mine took about 10 weeks...below are the dates:

Order Date: 7/11/2003
Receipt Date: 7/11/2003
Serialize Date: 8/14/2003
Segment Date: 8/15/2003
Sequence Date: 8/20/2003
Blend Date: 8/22/2003
Produced Date: 9/3/03
Gate Release Date: 9/3/03
Ship Date: 9/8/03
Arrival Date: 9/18/03
Pick Up Date: 9/22/03

I agree with wingn8ive, if you were to get it in 8 weeks you would be lucky.

A couple of things that might extend the amount of time it takes to build are the accessories you add on to it from the factory. Some people are ordering it w/o some of the access. and ordering them from the dealership and having them install it for them.

Also, I have been told (not sure if it is true) that if the dealership is a "large" one, they get their orders in quicker than some dealerships that are smaller and have far fewer orders.

I ordered mine with all the accessories I wanted, because I really don't mind waiting 10-12 weeks instead of 8-10.

A Supercrew is the hardest to get as they are for now only made in KC.. I'd order late Jan or early Feb.. As stated, dealer's have order allotment slots, each dealer's allotment is different. Most dealers will tell you they can get something in 8 weeks knowing that they can't. The only way you could get it in 8 weeks is if a dealer had a truck scheduled for production that wasn't sold and changed the truck to your spec's, otherwise I'd figure at least 12 weeks.

Skooter, do you have a VIN or a build date yet????

My truck was ordered Nov. 1st. No VIN assigned yet and it is still "clean and unscheduled" as of Jan. 2.

This is the last info I received, thanks to Bigmac/Izinbloom just before the factory holiday break.

Receipt Date: 10/8/2003
Serialize Date: 11/20/2003
Segment Date: 11/20/2003
Sequence Date: 12/4/2003
Blend Date: 12/8/2003
Produced Date: 12/16/2003
Gate Release Date: 12/16/2003
Ship Date: 12/19/2003
Arrival Date:

They must have shipped it on a slow boat from china town. The Dealer is clueless to it's location at this time.

I'm just ..very Pissed* at this point.

Even when it arrives......don't expect any dancing bananas from me......not a one.

P.S. I am ripping up a $500.00 coupon that was sent via internet that the Ford Motor company so kindly e-mailed me. Only good until Jan 2nd 2004........isn't that convenient........... THANKS FOR NOTHING !!!!

A few thoughts Skooter...
First, that coupon is probably destroyed already, but I would take it in anyway and make them honor it. Even if it's a dealer eat on 500 bucks!
Second, my dealer told me that they give her a crate number when it gets on the train (which is how they get to you) and she could look up the crate number online and know where it is.
Sort of like a tracking number. Sounds like your dealer isn't working hard enough which I'm sure I don't have to tell you.
My advice would be to channel your anger into the dealer when it arrives and let them know how inconvenienced you've been and make them make you happy.

I waited 19 weeks. Ordered mine on 8/21 arrived 12/22.

FX4 Silvermetallic/DSG Two-Tone
Deluxe Mirror Pkg.
Trailer Tow Pkg.
3.73 LS Rear
18" Machined wheels
LT Tires
40/20/40 front seat
Audiophile
Moonroof
Reverse Sensing System

I would suggest ordering the Audiophile System. It sounds great.

And Skooter, I wish you luck. I think once you get your truck you will be very happy.
