Finally got my truck chekced out

My truck started going into engine failsafe mode soon after I changed the oil the first time. This would not happen all the time, just sporadically. The emission light would also come on with this warning. I just figured that it was a bad sensor or something. Well after the service guy looked at my truck he said it is an error in the software that is triggered by the antilock brake sensor. To make a long story short the dealer said that there was a software update that Ford is working on and should be released to them within the month. He also said they had about 3 other 04's that had the same problem. Has anyone else heard of this or had it happen to them?

you bet

I have had the same thing and my dealer told me that ford engineering came and looked at my truck....for the 2nd time I might add, and they said they will have a fix. For now, I am riding around with the dealers computer hooked up to the truck and they want me to push a button every time it goes into failsafe.

I hope that they fix it soon.

Thats called a Flight recorder and I believe it can only capture info three times so if you keep hitting the button it may erase the older event.. I'd try to keep the event when it ran the worst.. keep us informed please thanks david
