Audiophile play MP3/WMA?

I just received my new 2004 with the audiophile system. The summary instructions that came with my manual indicate it will take mp3 cds so I tried a couple. Didn't work. I suspect they expected it to work and didn't require the supplier to provide the functionality. I'm going to try a warranty complaint when I take it in for my 1st service.

Mind reads "...CD6/MP3 DISC..." which should mean CD6 or MP3 DISC. I see there is also an indicator light on the screen. Allot of pioneer cd players just play WMA files. I'll burn one this weekend and try it. I expect the same result...
I've tried WMAs and it didn't work either. Actually, I tried VBR (variable bit rate), I suppose there is an ever so slim chance that a constant bit rate would still work. I think we're all barking up the wrong tree though. I'd be willing to bet nothing other than standard CD is supported.
