when the Ford F-150 truck was pitted against a 320,000-pound barrier in a 40 mile per hour test, it failed miserably.

I wonder what other vehicles would fail with that type of test?

WOW, all I can say is I am extremely impressed with the test results. I watched both videos, the one for the 97-03 and the one with the 04. The 97-03 basically completely crumbled the entire truck and especially the cab compartment.

The 04 looked as though the only thing that really crushed is the front end (engine compartment) it looked as though there was very little to no damage from the front windshield back.

The other thing was it looked like in the 04 the driver stayed relatively straight and confined in a small travel area. He hit the air bag and was still sitting straight in the seat. Unlike in the 97-03 where it looked like the driver took a hell of a ride and looked like he got pinned between the steering column and his seat.

That is a very impressive improvement in safety…

To be fair the old f-150 did get a great rating in a full frontal crash I believe.. Also dateline NBC said the improvements were in part because of the pressure of the media ..lol ok dateline saves the day:santa:

NBC blows dog. Ford improved safety ratings because of customer demand. I have one thing to say about Dateline: OWNED by GM! After the fake flaming pickups that they rigged for the show to explode.

I owned a 1999 Ford F150 and was involved in two accidents. The first was a head on collision with a jersey barrier at 35 MPH. In the second accident I was rear ended by someone who was going 30 MPH. In both accidents my truck received little to no damage. I am however glad that my new 04 F150 has achieved such high safety ratings. Good work Ford, and not via pressure from a media outlet!
