Another Dash/Radio removal ? (XM related)

Im installing my old XM into my truck and was wondering how to take the dash then the radio out of the truck. I am also thinking about removing the cigarette lighter out of the dash and filling that huge empty space with the display. It would fit better, and look better than anywhere I can think of. Also whats behind the cigarette lighter? I want to make sure Im not cutting into anything when I cut the plastic.

there was a post on here with pictures of someone removing the dash...you start at the top passenger side corner and pry up with a plastic tool. I used a plastic "bone" that window installers use. My dad owned a body shop and had one in his tool box at home. the center of the dash will then just pry off...it takes a little time and you have to go slow. I have the pictures at home saved on my computer. You can also go to Motorcraft.com and subscribe to the technical manual for the truck that the dealers use. Like $10 for 3 days. I did this and downloaded all the PDF files on my computer.

I can email you the pictures if you like but I think if you do a search on opening your dash they were in that post.

Let me know
