I currently have a SnugTop SnugLid on my Ranger. I'm surprised not many people on this board have one. I think it's great.

retrax

Had a very hard time deciding among retrax, undercover, and extang full tilt. Thanx to JohnAndDar for a great deal, I am intalling it tomorrow.

Due to the snow in New England I have not got the chance to take any pics yet but I will.

I would love to see the pics of undercover on 04s though...

Hey redstrom, congratulations on the Retrax. I can't take credit for any great deals, though. You might have meant JDMnAR...several people got good deals on Retrax buy ordering through him.

I've got the Advance folding cover from K-Cover. Seemed to be the best fit for my needs: easily removeable, lockable hard cover, able to leave open for hauling larger things. I would have preferred the Retrax except it didn't fit the "easily removeable" qualification.

I paid the following for screw.

Cover for 2004 Ford F150 SuperCrew (Part SC-04) $770
> > Lock cover $ 7
> > Gate Gasket $ 20
> > Shipping $ 50
> > Total: $847

I have not installed yet but I heard it takes about an hour. You can do a search in this forum to find a good deal on this. Most people seems to go with this person like I did.

jdmnar@hotmail.com

Very nice guy with good follow ups. Shipping was fast.

JFYI

Questions for Retrax owners

First post ever, anywhere, so forgive me if I botch Etiquette. (thank God for spell checkers!)

I just ordered my 04 Lariat Supercab and can't wait for it to arrive.

I'm looking at covers and have a few questions for all you Retrax owners:

1. Does it flutter or vibrate at highway speeds?
2. Is it fairly sturdy, does it seem like it will last 10 years or so?
3. How much/little does it leak?
4. How does the finish stand up? Does it still look nice and bright after months/years?

Thanks in advance for your answers......

1) It's not completely rigid, so there is some movement, but there isn't enough "play" to cause noise. Install directions call for only 1/8" of side to side play, so the tracks do a good job of holding things in place. I haven't noticed any noise/vibration at any speeds.
2) I think it will last a long time. If I ever trade in my Screw for a new one, I plan on taking the Retrax with me.
3) No leaks...see my previous post for my nitpick issues.
4) I've only had it installed for a month so time will tell how it holds up. It's Lexan plastic, so it shouldn't fade and can be treated with wax/sealant. If you take care of it, it should look great (new) for a long time. Probably the biggest potential problem is scratches...I wouldn't get into the habit of dragging anything across the top.

Previously refused an A.R.E. LSII...will be present to inspect the dealer's install of a Snuglid SL on a neighbor's truck Saturday. If it meets expectations for fit, finish and paint quality, I'll order the SL for my Screw then.
