Headlights

I've noticed that my headlights on my 04 are not that bright. The headlamp assembly itself looks very impressive, but the result.... High beams look pretty good but low beams look weaker than my 97 f150. Anyone else notice this? i was considering aftermarket bulbs (like sylvania silverstar) but don't know if they are available yet.

My Lariat headlamps seem bright enough.
They are as bright as any stock bulb and
they are aimed pretty high.

Mike.

For a while, i was alternating between driving my new and old f150. so i could compare very easily. i was surprised how the new lights were not any brighter and as i mentioned a little less so. to me, surprising given how large and impressive looking the headlights on the 04 are. anyway, i'll wait until the silverstars come out and try them.

The lights on my 2004 Lariat are definately brighter than the lights on my old 1997 F-150!

Mine are bright too. I get people flashing me to turn my high beams off when they aren't even on.

I mostly notice it in areas with street lights. Sometime I have to hit my brights to make sure the lights are on. Pitch black roads seem normal though. Maybe you'r noticing it with street/other lights around?

Personally, I think the lights on my Lariat are the best I've ever seen on any vehicle I've ever owned.

Could be yours aren't aimed properly...wouldn't be the first time this has happened on a new vehicle.

Recently me and two friends took my Lariat on a 1500 mile ride to and from Dallas, and did some night driving. At one point, while I was resting in the back seat, I overheard one of my friends tell the other one, "Man, these are the best headlights I've ever seen."

I agree.

I was thinking the same BIKELOVER.

Check the aim first.

In theory, the lights on the older truck should be more dim as the plastic lenses will have yellowed and clouded slightly with age (if minimally, they would still lessen light output)

thanks for all the input. i will check the aim as this seems like the most likely culprit. looks like you can only adjust the vertical distance and not horizontal. thanks again.

I finally got my truck last night. I said to my wife as we drove home that the lights werenice and bright. Do you have Fogs? They make a big difference when you turn them on. Also0 I read on a post just the other day that someone had bought the Sylvania bulbs and they poisted the size bulbs needed for the headlamps and fogs
