Extra fees?
Extra fees?
I am now only a few days away from ordering my truck w/ an X plan. I went to the dealer and priced out the truck the way I want it. Everything was fine...except a $295 Ford advertisement fee! (also a $46 dollar gas fee, that one doesnt bother me as much)
It seems like I should not have to pay this, since I am ordering from the factory. I also have a friend who used an X Plan and said he didnt have to pay any kind of fee like this. However the dealer didnt seem like it was gonna budge on the issue. Am I outta luck on this one?
Thanks

I bought mine X-Plan and paid no "gas" fee that I know of. The Ad fee is in the break down price of the truck and from what heard is hard to lose. But the argument you have is you are ordering with out the use of there ads and should not need to pay this fee. It's money Ford gives to dealers to help pay advertising.
If you're purchasing using an X-plan pin, then there is no haggling to be done. The X-plan price is clearly disclosed on the factory invoice. The dealer should provide you with a copy of the factory invoice at the time of sale.
The FDAF (Ford Dealer Advertising Fund) and Gas Fuel Charge included on most invoices (under certain types of orders the FDAF is not included).
You should probably have your friend double check his factory invoice, both "fees" are probably listed.
Don't consider yourself "out of luck"...many would be happy to have the "no haggle" convenience of X-plan pricing, which is slightly under invoice total. (Of course, A-plan is even nicer).

Never heard of these fees and the dealerships I have delt with have always filled the tank at their expense.

Ive heard of the advertising fee and that it is hard to get removed but anything is possible if they want to sell they will deal. Has there been a change on X-plan? I thought X was A plan times 4% plus a 150 dollars Ford charge. I bought my truck for invoice and when I compared it with X plan I saved $450. Either way a lot of people are getting great deals.
According to XCR440, the FDAF is part of every invoice. If you didn't pay it, your dealer ate it. Mine wouldn't....
127bull,
My Lariat SCab 4x4 was purchased using x-plan, which was about $60 below the invoice price. I varies from vehicle to vehicle and sometimes the x-plan price is a little above invoice. Yours is the largest discrepancy that I've heard of. Kinda weird, huh?
I think your right about A-plan being 4% below X-plan + $150.

Hi guys...just perusing all the info in the forums here and I came across this subject of purchasing a new Ford Truck under the X-Plan. Excuse my naiveness, but what on earth are you talking about here? I purchased a 1999 SCAB new and was just now looking at my invoice and didn't notice any kind of advertisement nor gasoline fee on it. Is this something relatively new? I plan on buying an '04 Lariat in late Spring. Thanks for your info.
Maybe we are seeing 2 different invoices but if I go to Fords build site http://www9.forddirect.fordvehicles....RL=FordPartner build my truck and compare all prices I have a MSRP of 36,645 with a X plan of 32,338 and an invoice of 32,039 which is what I paid. Take the difference and add the 150 that Ford charges and I saved nearly 450. Hopefully this helps anyone reading this and about to pay sticker, there are great deals out there.
There are many many people on this site that have purchased their truck for invoice minues the FDAF fee. I am one. I bought it from the same dealer that 2 months before would not accept anything but MSRP. It pays to shop around. I also called 2 other dealers that same day and told them that I wanted to pay invoice minus the FDAF fee. Both practically laughed at me. Guess whos laughing now?
Also don't forget to get your financing in order to get the best %rate, especially if you are purchasing a SCrew.

ordered with A Plan, set up my truck on Ford Direct, didnt include gas and ad fee, but invoice of truck dealer gave me incluede it---they wouldnt take it off either, said it was on there, set from Ford, so they couldn't take it off----makes me kind of mad, but will still take shipment when it comes----figuring out my gas per gallon was $1.71----it is $1.45 here---Im at least going to fuss about this out of principle---dealer told me that they are reimbursed the money they lose on the deal plus get $250 for the sale--hate to get took even if for a few dollars,,, after I saved a few thousand is not really the point, fair is fair---they definitely aren't losing money
JDpete...I got 2.9% for 5 years, I just couldnt put out that big payment avery month for 3 years, But I talke to a friend today who just got his and since he is paying for it thru his own business, he can afford the big monthly payment,,he told me he got 0.9% for 3 years...yes 0.9%. Its out there so If you can swing it, push for the best financing. I think he told me he was only paying $295 in finance charges over the 3 years. Thats awesome.
