What do you think.......

About putting an FX4 grill on a Lariat? I like the honeycomb grill, don't get me wrong, but the FX4 grill kind of reminds me of my Sport Trac grill, which I really liked. Anyone attempt to do anything like this yet? Also, if anyone has a pic of the front end of a black FX4 I would love to see it. Thanks!

Sorry.... I was saying that I was thinking of doing the same thing. I saw one for sale on Ebay a few weeks ago. I should have bid on it because it sold for only $10..... Bummer!
Let us know if you find a good source for one.

So I guess it would be possible to swap grills out? I havent taken a good look under the hood, but have read on other posts that you have to remove the grill to install the bug guard. Is that true? If anyone has a part number I can check some sources for prices. I am interested to hear from anyone who has tried this

The grill is VERY easy to take off! It is held on with 6 nuts and 4 bolts, I think there 10mm. Takes about 5 min to take it off if you take your time! I had my wife hold it while I took out the last nut just to make sure that I didn't drop it!

Just checked with Parts today, seems you can order an XLT, FX4, or Lariat grill with the color coded surround material (black on XLT / FX4, chrome on Lariat) for 175 bucks. Not sure if I will do this or wait, but nice to know it is possible.

Wolf,

The grill is very easy to take off and put back on. I installed the Ford bug deflector myself while the wife and kids were out.

BTW, I was down in your neighborhood yesterday doing some Christmas shopping at the mall - what a zoo! Were you as disappointed as I was at the meager snowfall? I reall wanted to give the 4x4 a good test. Oh well, I'm looking forward to January.

Man that is more than I expected them to be. I really messed up on passing on the one on ebay!! they had 2 grills.FX4 and XLT that they swapped for billet grills. I added the FX4 grill to my watch list and it sold for $10!!!. I will see if it still there and find out the name of the shop in California that was doing the grill swaps. they may get some more soon.
