Speedometer Off
Well it reduces insurance because it makes the AVG owner less likely to get a ticket, thus bringing the AVG number of tickets per 1K drivers down. If see that you are doing 75 in a 65 on the speedo are you more or less likely to go faster than the flow of traffic?
Umm... "sure" (about the insurance thing)... Think that if you want to, but people are going to go with the flow of traffic irregardless, and an automaker wouldn't knowingly make all their guages read lower... ESPECIALLY considering the fact of how many magazines test out top-speed, 1/4-mile times, 0-60 et cetera, it would RUIN their times, and it isn't exactly legal either...
Every Ford vehicle I've driven (four of them since the '94 model year) has read 2-3 MPH faster on the spedo than actual speed. Wondering if this is just a Ford thing. Is there a reason for it? I've never done any mods to the vehicle and all had this issue with original factory tires/wheels.

vocabulaic, The magazines test with timing gear. The speedo is only used to give the tester a VERY rough indication of the speed they are going. If they need accurate speed indicators in the car, they INSTALL something to do so. I think most major magazines are already switched over to GPS style data recording.

I just checked mine using a handheld Garmin 12XL. At both 60 and 70 my GPS was indicating 1 MPH slower. I can live with that.
Would somebody please tell how to get the test mode to come up on the message center in my Lariat? I'm sure it's posted here somewhere and in the owners manual, but I'm too busy (lazy) to search. Thanks.......
