Purchasing Thru Truckaddons.com

I ordered the Extang RT and Bedrug for my SC w/ 5.5 box. And yes I know the order is delayed in spite of my checking with the manufacturers in mid Nov that all would be ready for delivery in 2 weeks. I know in my business, most people get very "upset" if they don't get their "stuff" when promised. Do we need to get more vocal? Anyway, my main question is has anyone ordered through truckaddons.com and were you satisfied? I just received my credit card bill and they have already processed the charge! Is this SOP for all the advertisers on this website?

I ordered a Designer series BugflectorII from them a while ago. I wanted the painted look that I have seen in some of the pictures posted on this site. Anyway, they sent me the part for a 2003 instead of the 2004. As soon as I notified them of the error, they arranged for a UPS call tag to be issued and asked that I send the part back to them for replacement. I sent it back the week before Thanksgiving and am still waiting for the replacement. The initial shipment and reaction to the error were both pretty quick. So far, I am OK with the process. If I don't get the correct part soon, I may have a different opinion.

I had a much worse experience with Autobarn. I had originally ordered the same part from them and they sent the regular Bugflector in smoke. When I notified them of the error, they insisted that I pay to have the part sent back before they would replace it. When I called to complain about that, the customer service rep was very rude to the point that I cancelled the order. They now refuse to refund the $20 it cost me to send back a part I never ordered. I talked to some bigwig there and he told me it was their policy to refund the return freight ONLY if I accepted an exchange. He told me I should have read their return policy more carefully before I ordered. In my opinion, the return policy wasn't relevant because it was their mistake, not mine. But I'm still out the $20 and they're minus one customer forever.

Thumbs up

Mudlord

Good on ya! You were right and they were dead wrong. Any Internet business with that kind of attitude won't last long. Autobarn won't be getting any business from me either.

Valhalla - Thanks for your support. Just so there's no misunderstanding - I would never ask anyone to avoid doing business with any merchant due to my own experience with them. But, I do believe in that old saying - Let the buyer beware. Anyone doing business with Autobarn should be aware of their uncompromising attitude towards their customers and the implications of their return policy.
