Pix of FX4 Supercab 2" lower in rear

Here is my truck 2" lower in the back. Shimmy on take-off all gone. No change in ride. For a total of $3.80, 21 mm deep-well socket, and 1 1/2" of your time, you too can accomplish this.

Here is the link to see the pictures:

It is 1 1/4" higher in the rear and if you put 235 lbs on the bumper it sinks 1/2 ". In person it makes a huge dif.

Looks Great. Just how I want mine to look.

Any chance of warranty issues with this?

I guess it could be reversed if needed.

Thanks for the pictures!

Lowering rear with schackles

I have a 01 Lightning, I used schackles to lower, really level, the rear of the truck two inches. I also use the truck to tow a car trailer with w street rod. I bought AirRide Slam Air bags for the rear suspension. When ever I want to haul something heavy, I just pump up the air bags to bring the rear up level with the load on the truck. Works great, I run 10 PSI normally, and the bags will accept up to 100 PSI if required. For the car trailer, it takes 45 PSI to take relevel the truck. Took a couple of hours to install them. I use an electric tire pump that plugs into the cig lighter outlet. If you want a sleek look, lowering the rear to be level is one way to get it.

I have two questions:

1) If you raise the front or lower the rear do you have to readjust your headlights?

2) I like to tilt the bottom back of my seat down as far as I can and the front of the seat up. On my 04 Lariat, it feels like I am not able to tilt my seat back as much as my other vehicles. I wonder if leveling out the truck would make it feel as if my bottom seat will be tilting further back?

Ford4me,
If you will blackout the visable area of the bed color in the rear fender well it would also look better.

Look at the front fender well above the tire and then the rear fender well above the tire.

I did that with a can of good automotive grade flat black paint.

I have taken the rear spacers out of my supercrew FX4 (no pics) and am very pleased with the look and the function of the truck now, helps bring those bed rails closer to where there supposed to be. Did the same, put 3 washers under every nut for now, plan on threading U bolts back and shortening them in the future, just want to make sure im doing the right thing. 2 things you need to remember, headlights are pointing up higher now, relevel them. Second is towing, obviously instead of the truck leveling out when you put a load on it, it will now squat and take from the front. I have sway bars that help level the truck when hooked up to my trailer, so I went ahead with it. Raising the front will create the same problems.
Do reccomend the mod though, deffinately looks better level.

OK another question.....I keep hearing about people removing the 2 inch riser blocks or spacers out, but most say they have FX4's or 4X4's........I just have a 4X2 XLT......do these also have the spacers in them? If so where are they located? I measured from the front wheel well to the tire and its 5 1/2 inches.....the back is 8 inches so if I leveled it 2" in the rear it would look much better I think. Thanks in advance!!!

1. I used the Daystar 2.5" front end lift and it looks great. I didn't readjust my headlights. It made such a minor difference that I don't feel the need. I have had them installed for about 3 weeks now. I don't get off of work until 9:00 pm so it is always dark on my 10 mile drive home. I have yet to have anyone flash their headlights at me. I have noticed such a small difference in the headlight rise that if I wouldn't have known what the headlights were like prior to the lift, I wouldn't notice any difference. I almost always drive with the foglights on at night, and let me tell you, these babies throw out some light!

2. Again, it makes such a small difference inside that I wouldn't know the difference had I not sat in the truck for 1000 miles before installing the lift. You may want to consider putting some washers or a hex nut under the front braces of the seat.

****Look at STXDriver's post from earlier today. I also painted the bed inside the rear wheel wells. It is unreal how much just that one act makes the rear end look better.

Not sure about your 4x2, but on the 4x4's the spacers are located on top of the rear axle and below the rear springs. If your has them, you cant miss it. Just check between the leaf springs and axle.
Hope that helps ya!

No, the 4x2 does not have blocks. Guys around here are removing the rear springs and haveing them re-arched to lower the back. Two inches seems to be the magic number, they look great. I'm going to do mine next week, will post pics. Cost to re-arch springs is around $100 and 2-3 hrs of your time to remove and install them. RW

I think Ground Force has shackles out now to lower the rear of your truck about 2". The cost is around $80 or so, and to me, it's a much better alternative that de-arching your stock leafs.
