Dude, Did you know after WWII Japan vowed to economically rule the US since they could not beat us in war? I don't think Japan will accomplish this but China may. I really do not want to preach but its hurts our economy HUGE when people buy imports. I do realize the total world economy. In a recent trade magazine an article indicated for every 4 imports sold in the US we loose 1 job in the work force. I am a Vice President of a computer company and the jobs we see going over seas for phone support and programmers is very scary. You can't even buy a computer made in the US any more. A lot of CEO's make too much money but they typically are not savers and spend like banshees on homes, cars and more homes and cars. The big three are making cars just as good as imports but prices are sometimes higher. Its concerning the thought of having future generations from the US move over seas to India or China for a better life. Okay now, where's my new F150 I am going duck hunting. Owning a good USA pickup is like riding a Harley, if I have to explain you wouldn't understand.

Well said, I think a lot of people on this forum don't understand. I also think when they suggest this not be discussed on this forum, Why, does it make them take a hard look at themselves...

I do not agree with the quality statement. In some areas, I do agree, but not on all levels. I own both imports and domestics. I also do not agree that the prices are higher for domestic, at least for me who works in the industry and gets multiple manufacturer discounts.

J-150, I hope Toyota is in one of my mutual fund holdings or my fund managers should be fired for keeping any of the domestics. Compare 3 year performance history.

Some people don't shop at Walmart because they are destroying small business. See how it works? It's all about cost cutting and price competition. Walmart has immense buying power, which reduces costs, which gives them more buying power and more locations where they drive out more small business. The same exact thing is happening on American soil as is happening world wide.

Coupester, I hope my job doesn't go overseas too. My wife and I went back to school at night to get second degrees in fields that will allow us to stay with the company headquarters here, or leave the industry entirely. What does Ford have, the 3 best selling vehicles in the world or something? All the buying American that we're doing isn't keeping their new factory on American soil. I'm tyring to prepare for the new economy, not fight a losing battle against it.

Just to be clear, I'm selling Japanese and buying American here because the F150 is awesome.

agreed. let it die people. you're not going to change anyone's mind after going through it a dozen times. the same arguments and ideas have been presented over and over again in threads like this, usually off of a Nissan Titan discussion. why start a whole thread about it again? no point IMHO. we all know what people are going to say about both sides. the horse is dead. no need to continue beating it.

It seems like the Japanese manufacturers are creating jobs in the USA while the domestics are out sourcing. Honda has 2 plants in Ohio I beleive. Toyota has tennesse and alabama plants. Nissan has a plant in missouri and somewhere else I beleive.IMHO you should buy cars based on quality and price, not where the company is based. If the Big 3 would get there act together(which is starting to happen) and improve qaulity and reliabilty I beleive there sales would go up. I could get a Titan that is equipped like an XLT F-150 for 22-23k and get the 5.6 V8 and other things. If you buy based on quality and price it creates compitition between the brands on who can make the best automobile for the cheapest, in the end we all would benefit from better cars from every manufacturer.

Unhappy

I hope furture generations do not but trucks from Iraq or Iran called the BIN 2500 Heavy Duty because they are good looking, dependable and have lots of horse power. Its more than factory jobs people, its a much deeper problem.

I agree with both sides somewhat, it is a deep problem and don't think this is only manufacturing, telemarketing, support, etc. Prediction, in 10-15 years most IT related jobs in development and architecture will be over seas. I work in the software industry and it is already happening. So, people with all of those in-demand hot IT skills, you know the re-training, blather and adapting, are already outmoded. I am not bitter, this is competition and I am confident I can hold my own. I think the gubmint is starting to limit H1-b's finally!!

I try to buy American as much as possible for a few reasons. To support the country, to show pride for what we build, and because I am not going to support a country that hunts whales and kills endangered species cause they think its going to help their tallywhacker stand up or whatever else nonsense they think it cures. Money isnt always the most important thing in our lives which most people seem to forget...
