Greasy Window
Greasy Window
I'm getting traces of what appears to be grease on my driver's window after I roll it down and up. I'm thinking something inside the door with grease on it is doing the transferring. I'd like to remove the door panel and fix this. Anyone removed this panel that can tell me where all the clips and fastners are? TIA
I'd take it to the dealer, but I always fear a dealer shop doing work like this. I don't trust anybody but me, and even THEN I have to work at it.

So you're asking how to take the door apart on an internet forum, but you trust yourself more than a Ford mechanic? I'm not knocking you at all, but I think you should feel pretty safe having Ford fix this for you. It's obviously not a big issue, and will probably go away once all the extra grease comes off on your window. I'm pretty sure they can handle this quicker, easier and with better results. Good luck whatever you decide.
I agree with Screwdrive, I saw some what looked like grease on my passenger window a couple of weeks ago. It was after I had the windows tinted. As hard as it was to clean off it must of been grease. Anyway, I haven't seen any more since then.
If it keeps coming back, it would be a warranty issue.

I know what you mean. I got a $14 settlement check from Ford over a class action lawsuit. This was for service I paid $600 dollars for!
I have to believe this isn't the normal situation though. I was just suggesting that you might take it to the dealer since this is a non-mechanical issue that is pretty hard to screw up, and impossible to hide if a screw up occurs.

It isn't really irritating, just a little smudge that appears on the window inside after rolling the window down. Smudges are getting smaller and smaller, so it'll probably go away without human intervention.
I got off to a bad start with my dealer shop. They delivered the truck to me with a busted rightside mirror. They told me they'd order a new one and it'd be in in two days. Two days later I called and found out that no replacements are in the channel due to the newness of the model, and the wait would likely be much longer. I refused to accept that, and insisted they either give me another identical truck (they did have one) or swap mirrors with another, which is what they eventually did, but not without me having to basically threaten to cancel the deal. There were lots of cold shoulders from the service manager and salesman, and I really don't want to go back there unless absolutely necessary. IMO, they should deliver a fully functional vehicle at this price, if they can do so, and they could do so in this case without me having to drive around for weeks with a busted mirror and then have to get into the service line to wait for the work to be done when the mirror did finally arrive. This is part of what I mean about dealer shops. Once the vehicle is sold you get into line for the little things, and more often than not it takes two and three separate trips in before it gets done right. I just cringe at having to take it in to them.

Smudgerooo
I've been having the same problem with the drivers side window "smudging" as you all have. It seems to be minimizing as of late (3000 miles on the girl as of today) but it's still there. I hadn't considered that it might be grease. I was thinking that it might have been an adhesive from bottom of the window sticker that got caught up in the rubber seals that touches the interior portion of the window. It's not real easy to get off with anything I've tried other than elbow grease and friction.
