i love the truck, those rims actually look good with better tires, it seems that the red truck is rare on this forums. id be concerned with fading. we all know that red fades over time. has this flat red been used on other models in the past, is it a proven color fast paint?

don't know. hope it dosn't fade. wouldn't expect it to I once had a 1965 ford pickup that was red and it had vary little fade. is the new colors more prone to fadeing? I hope not as I plan on owning this truck for possibly as long as 15 years.

I had thought that I wanted a dark shadow gray FX4, but I have to say that the two tone red FX4 is growing on me. Like others, my concern would be the possibility of the red fading. My experience with red vehicles so far (at least, red vehicles that people I know have owned) has not been so good. Each one did fade at least a little over time, and that is of concern to me. I'm not sure if regular polishing would make a difference as it would seem to me that it would have to have some kind of UV block to it as I'm sure that's what causes the fading. Do anyone have any tips for keeping their red vehicles red and not fading?

Cheers.

I wouldnt worry too much about the modern red vehicles fading. The clear coat pretty much eliminates the problems that Ford used to have with that color (as well as silver).
Polishing wont hurt at all however.
My wife has a 98 Jeep (red clearcoat) and it is in fine shape, even with the low quality paint that Chrysler has.
