Had to look in my driveway...

Then I saw my ride! Dude, that's my truck you have! Except I've got flint leather and 17's. The 3:73 v 3:55 is talked about in a few threads. 3:73 gives you better towing capacity and more rear end torque, if I remember right. But do a search or scroll down a bit, you'll find the complete answer.
Take care

Thumbs up That New Flat Finish Look

Thanks all
SoFar Two Days and 100 Miles And the truck handles verry nice.
One thing is it needs some weight in the back or I NEED TO LOWER THE AIR PRESSURE IN THE BACK TIRES WHEN NOT LOADED. THE TRUCK IS VERY RESPONSIVE AND COMFORTABLE.

I Like the look of the dash.Does anyone know if there is a good protectant for the leather/vinyl that doesn't leave a shine? I want to keep that new flat look..

Steve

It'll let the engine operate at higher RPM per the speed you are going, and is good to off-set arger tires.

Whoever said it applies more torque has no education about gearing. You are producing the same torque, it is just being applied at different RPMs now.

The lower your gear (# wise), the lower your RPM to maintain a speed. However, the higher (# wise) they are, the "faster" it will "feel" from take-off, and the better for larger tires.

I have 3.55 in my F-150 and have absolutely no complaints, I like the 3.55 because it keeps my RPM lower on the highway and gives me better fuel economy. However, in my Ranger I had 4.56 (aftermarket) gears to offset the small engine trying to turn the heavy weight of the 33" tires.

Um... You're a little off on that one.. It Does apply more torque:

Lower gears in transmissions and rear ends are torque multipliers.

You can become educated completely here:

yes I agree he is off a bit. that higher gear ratio in his ranger is not to offset the engine turning the heavy weight of those bigger tires. the weight of those tires has vary little to do with it. the larger tires haveing a larger diameter therfore one revolution of the tire travels a different distance efectively changeing the ratio of the rearend. he is right about the higher gear takeing off better from the line becouse of the better torque at the rear wheels.

smcFx4,

Looking forward to your truck pics. I live in Chester County. Where'd you get your windows tinted? I'm considering getting mine done, and am looking for recommendations in the area.

Thanks,
John

hay what percent tint did you have to put on the front windows to match the rest. I was planning on doing the same thing to my truck.
