Vin Number Not In The System
Ok so im anxious ,excited and actually a little mad I dont have my truck, so I decided to call ford. The girl said my VIN isnt in her system. Whats up with this? How can I have a build date and ship date, expect it to be here already then my salesman tells me not for another 2 weeks or more and now Ford tells me its not in the system....Can anyone explain this for me or help me out here?
ok, so Ford customer service @1-800-392-3673 sux. I called earlier today to find out where my truck is. The girl said she couldnt find my VIN but would check on it and call me back asap. Well she didnt so I just called again and talked to a different girl.She said the one I talked to earlier did look into it but just never called me back, THAT SUX. Now this girl is telling me she cant access my VIN or any status on my truck, that my salesman has to do that.I explained to her that I had already gave my salesman a call and talked to him about it and he said he couldnt do anything right away, he had to wait. I wanted Ford Customer Service to do a little more checking on it than my salesman could. They said they cant do that and have no access to my info. Only my salesman could get info for me.If this is the case ,,what good is a customer service dept. I find it very hard to believe no one can give me an answer as to where my truck is and why is the delivery date changing. Now im pissed

can it get any worse, I just talked to my salesman and now he's nervous. Why cant ford customer service find my VIN, how did it have a ship date, an original arrival date of 11/8 and now changed to 11/21? Where is this truck? He called his ford rep ASAP after talking to customer service. Hopefully I will have an answer soon.

Yes I called the customer service line today too. The lady was very polite, but she was rattling on about how great F150's are, and asking if I heard how tough and reliable they were. I wanted to say "No $%^@, that's why I ordered one, now where is it?" I'm sold on the truck already. She took down all my info, and I mean all my info and then told me that my truck was still unscheduled and it would take 10-12 weeks to deliver. I could have told her my truck was not scheduled, that's why I was calling. I want to know why it's not scheduled. If I were a honcho at Ford, the first thing I would look into is how come customers ordering Ford's most popular and important vehicle have to wait 12 weeks to take delivery of a truck that takes 1 day to build......Some serious room for improvement in the value and supply chains at Ford.
they must have a card in front of them they read off of. I got the same crap...wow nice truck you ordered, did you know it has the stiffest chassis,,bla bla bla...It will take 10 to 12 weeks for delivery. She gave me the same story.I asked her why if it was built and shipped on 10/28 is it still not going to be here until the 1st week in Dec.?Im making myself sick over this whole deal. I told her I was ready to cancel the order and go find one on a dealers lot somewhere if I couldnt get an answer soon. We'll see I guess.

I order on 8/21/03 and have been waiting anxiously ever since. The waiting is so frustrating. I decided I will wait until X-Mas. If no truck by then I will cancel my order and wait for the 05's.

Ok, you've been waiting 13 weeks....
Do you have a VIN number? What have you done to see what's going on? It's stories like this that totally freak me out.
BTW, I just got off the phone with my dealer. He didn't know if mine was scheduled today, he's going to check tomorrow. If it's not scheduled tomorrow, I told him I wanted to remove LT tires from my order. He's been really helpful answering all my questions and tweaking my order for me. I hope it pays off and doesn't just fall into a black hole at Ford HQ. Does anybody know if calling the regional Ford office is helpful in this situation? At this point I'm willing to be a complete pain in the *** if it gets my truck to me sooner.

I think by now you should be able to find what you are looking for on a dealership lot somewhere.If I dont have a real answer on when my truck will be here in the next 2 weeks, I think I'll cancel and just find one on a lot.
I was so mad talking with the girl from ford customer service today that i told her I was gonna cancel and go buy a dodge. Now you know I had to be mad to even say the word "dodge" let alone threaten to buy one. (dont worry this will never happen) I just wish Ford had a better system to let us know where are trucks are. Ive said it before, if you buy a boat from me and call me in 30 days to find out the status, i can give you pretty exact information on the boat within an hour of your call. Now why cant ford do that?

I'm thinking Ford can't customer service can't get this information because they probably have an outdated old network infrastructure that doesn't have all areas linked together where accessing data from plants, dealerships, service departments and so on is easily done from any terminal on the network. Sounds like Ford needs an upgrade!
Oh and I'm sorry about your situation, maybe you'll get lucky like I did. I ordered one exactly how I wanted it. Went in to the dealership to sign my order form approval and just mentioned to the salesman if any screws were in so I could go drive one around a little and wouldn't you know it there it was on order. MY TRUCK. Except even better, had leather, moonroof, and audiophile in it (all of which I didn't originally order, wanted to but the wife wanted me to save a little cash). After posting the VIN on here I found out it should be delivered very soon. I called after reading my post reply from BIGMAC and it just rolled in on the truck. I headed down to the dealership, watched them drive it off the truck, went and got my salesman and drove it around for an hour with the wife talking and decided it was well worth the extra 2 grand for the leather, moonroof, and the audiophile. Now I'm riding high and didn't have to wait. Look around, look around if you can. I can't be the only one to luck into getting exactly what they wanted. Sorry for the longwinded reply.

EXACTLY the same experience with Ford customer service. One lady tells you she will check and call you back and does not. YOU call back and talk to other lady and she can not help you.
I have posted before but I ordered mine on 8/25/03. I put 500 dollars down after spending 2hours at the dealer and called them 8 days later only to find out they ordered the worng one. We have talked about screw, drove the screw, and I showed them the screw pictures, and what they have ordered was the SCAB. So they changed the order on 9/5 telling me I will not wait too long. After 10 weeks they have got about 10 new screws in their inventory but not mine....
I simply can't believe how in the world your VIN# can disappear and they can not truck the shipment of your car. It is not a box of candy they are selling/shipping but it's almost 40K dollar toy. How could they not know where it's at?? It's pure BS. They need a new network?? Well, somebody should know what is going on...I seriously doubt that your dealer is doing the best he can to find out what really is going on. I feel sorry for you. If Ford can not find your truck, I must say their system is a MESS and their management sucks with no future...

I received an e-mail from the sales woman at the dealer today. Guess what, no Vin, no schedule, no answers. Nice!!! The funny thing is all the dealers around here have rows and rows of 04 f-150 collecting dust. Believe me, I've read the sticker on almost all of them looking for the options I want. One has this, but doesn't have that. Colors wrong, wheels are wrong, ect. Do you think Ford would be cheezy enough to put a hold on 04's in certain areas just to see if potential buyers get frustrated and break down and buy one off the lot. Sometimes I wish the dealers would just admitt that they get fed crap too. Like a sales person is going to say, "Hey pal I feel your pain, but these are the games the factory freaks play on us year after year, the truth is, you know, when we sat down to order your pride and joy, well when I said 6 weeks I was blowing smoke up your @#in@##ss"

Im trying to keep an open mind here, I really want this truck and if I get myself too pissed off I will go buy something else out of spite. I did talk to my salesman and he said he called his rep and they are going to track my truck. Its something they dont normally do unless its 3 weeks after the delivery date or ship date (I forget)and they still dont have it. He said he was worried that customer service couldnt access my VIN and so he called the rep right away. If it helps anyone here, and trust me im not sticking up for them, but,my salesman told me that the customer service people are 90% useless most of the time. He said thats where they stick all the new people right out of school and they dont have a clue other than the little marketing card they have to read off of. It seems we all got the same response, a very nice, polite woman who said what a beautful truck we were buying, that didnt know SH$T.
I found one exactly like I ordered except silver instead of blue. Problem is I get D plan because a relative works for Lincoln, but not all dealers will accept that and let me take a truck off their lot (=lame). If my trucks not scheduled tomorrow, I might just go down there and see what they can do for me. Seriously, I see what you are saying about trucks sitting on the lot. I walked out of a dealership five weeks ago after he wouldn't give me D plan on a truck he had on his lot. It's still there........
I bet he would give you D-plan now.And if not just go to another dealer, you'll find one to take it. Trust me those guys get there money no matter what plan or price they sell it at. A lot of money comes back at the end of the year.good luck, let us know how you make out.
I'm trying to do a couple dealer swaps first. I like the dealer I'm working with, so I'll stay for a while. He's working on a truck identical to what I ordered right now. He asked the fleet manager what was going on with my order. He said they've had allocation for a couple weeks, and they can't figure out why my truck hasn't been scheduled. Not a good enough answer......
