Dodged a bullet...sort of.

Well this weekend certainly had it's ups and downs. Got the F-150 back Friday night, because of the blown fuse problem. They appear to have fixed it, however in order to do so they had to remove the seat and pull up the carpet. It was a pinched wire under the seat cushion.

Then Saturday I got my Line-X installed. And let me tell you, it looks SWEET. The store has been open about two weeks, and the owner was really cool. He took me back and showed me what they do, removed all bolts, and explained the process to me. It was nice to know as much as he did, from reading all these threads.

But of course, as it seems with all good things, there was a casualty. They removed my antenna when they taped up and covered the truck. But they forgot to put it back in. Noticed it after I left and did a U-turn to go back and get it. But in my U-turn, I heard a sliding sound. Thought it was something in my console, so didn't think anything of it. Turns out it was the antenna sliding off the plastic vent where the wipers are.

The owner got in the truck with me and we re-traced my path. Found it in a three-lane highway. I had to wait for the light to turn red before I could go get it. So I was standing there, just watching every single car run over it.

Finally got it and it's all scuffed and ugly. But the owner said for me to go get a new one and send him the bill. Then he'll send me a check for it. Like I said, he's a really cool guy.

To make a long story longer. The bullets I dodged happend to be the lovely yellow paint ***** I found all over my house when I got home. Some dumb-*** kids decided to shoot several houses on the block that afternoon. Had the truck been there, it would have been hit for sure.

Fortunately I had an idea of who it was and I called the cops. We're talking like 12-15 shots to the house, front and back, so the cop call was necessary. He nabbed the perpetrators and they were then forced to come face me and clean my house.

I just keep thinking how lucky I was that the new truck wasn't there.

Should help if you park in a garage with a low overhead door.

I bought a flexible antenna from Radio Shack for around $10 that came with four adapters. Just unscrew the factory antenna and replace it with the correct adapter and the flexible antenna. It is about 18 inches high and bends with the wind. If it ever gets bent over far enough to touch the windshield I think the truck is going way too fast,.

the only thing i dislike about the flexible antennas is that they bend in the wind and stay bent when you stop. it looks goofy IMHO. i bought a shorter version of the stock antenna (black with a wire wrapped around it) from Pep Boys for $10 and it is great.

get the free drop in and sell it...put the money towards the line-X

P.S. MAKE SURE they take the bed bolt off before they spray the line-X. As you can see, they didn't do it on mine and my service manager already said that if I get rear ended they will have H.E. double hockey sticks getting them off, the screwdriver will not even fit in the screws now.

Brewdude, get the Line-X. The owner was really cool and it looks FABULOUS! I've gone outside every night since and have just stared at it and rubbed it. They WILL take out all the bolts. It's right off 322 West just past the English Creek Auto Mall. It's behind a gas station and a house. Took them a lot longer than 90 minutes to do though. So have some alternate plans during that time.

Before he does it, he'll give you his Line-X vs Rhino rub demonstration, where he rubs a piece of Line-X and Rhino together to show how the Line-X sands away the Rhino.

I got the new antenna yesterday. For now I got another factory one. It cost me $22.39. I faxed the guy the bill today and he should be mailing me a check for it.

I'll be posting pics in a couple weeks. Waiting to get the two body blemishes fixed next week. And it needs another wash.
