Keyless entry range?

I heard of the "chin trick" years ago and tried it...and it did seem to improve the range of the transmitter. But then holding transmitter at the same height with my arm out to the side had the same result. As a result I'm convinced the change in range is solely the result of the change in verticle height and has nothing to do with whether you hold the transmitter beneath your chin...or against the side of your head (I've never heard of that one before!).

Question: last I checked you can only enter your vehicle when standing exactly next to it so why does this matter? Do we just like it unlocked and waiting for us?
I have a 2 year old child and when its 10 below and your coming from a store and need to get him in the truck ASAP its nice to be able to unlock the truck from a good distance. If you have kids and live in a cold climate where you cant just run out and start the truck and leave your child alone, its nice to be able to unlock your truck from as far away as possible.
