Line-X job, step by step done right...

I had my FX4 SCrew bed sprayed the other day and the folks at First State Line-X did a great job. I am so happy I went with
Line-X. The final cost was $389 no tax (Delaware tax free) See the link for photos.

As far as I know, the dealer I went to only offered the standard coating. I know some places add color if you wish. I wanted basic black anyway. One tip I learned from my dealer, ask if they remove the bed bolts before you pick a dealer, some dealers remove them and some don't. I think it looks so professional when they remove all the hardware and then spray the bed but Line-X doesn't make that mandatory.

That is one pretty truck, Clark.

And the fact that you were there to get pics of your truck as it came in on the carrier. Well, that makes you a lunatic!

You're OK in my book.

Question

Is this stuff thick enough to protect the bed and sides from dents?

And why is it necessary/desireable to not have the bolt heads coated?

Nice.

How did you manage to get the pics of it coming off the truck? Did you camp out at the dealership or something? :P

I would imagine they dont cover the bolts because covering them would line-x would make it pretty hard to remove the bed if that was ever necessary...

As far as the pics comming off the truck goes- No camping for me, I just happened to be there filling out loan paperwork (we knew it was coming soon) and the car hauler just pulled up. It was awesome!

Now for the thickness- it is around 120 mils (Line-X has a minimum standard they have to disclose for each vehicle) it probably won't save a sidewall dent from a cinder block thrown at it but I would guess does a fine job for with most bed loads.

Bolts being removed before spraying- First it just looks way cooler, second if you ever need to remove any of these bolts for any reason just try to do it with Line-X in the torx head. NO WAY your gonna do it in less than three 4 letter words

Lastly- I love the truck and the Line-X job, thanks to you who passed the compliments in this thread

"Lunatic" you bet

Clarkn,

If they don't treat the bolts, do the bolts ever rust? Pardon my ignorance but I'm a first time pickup owner.

Thanks.

Good Looking Blue '04

ClarkN,
That's a really nice looking blue '04. I can imagine being there when it showed up on the transport.

My '04 yellow STX was on the showroom floor when I saw it for the first time.

I also got the Line-X spray-in bed liner. I only paid $339.00 for mine. The guy that did mine said it was company policy to remove the bed bolts but they couldn't get mine out so they sprayed over them.
