Congrats!

Congratulations 2004-Screw! It sounds as if you have an exact duplicate of my truck. I got mine roughly 7 weeks ago and already have 2400 miles on it. Such an improvement over my '01 Lariat Screw......even though I really liked that truck too. So far the only mod I've done was to have Xpel paint protecting film put on the upper and lower painted bumper surfaces, headlights, driving lights and first 12 inches or so of the hood. I'm waiting on a SnugLid fiberglass tonneau cover (late-Nov??) and BedRug to arrive and be installed. Anyway, enjoy the new ride and take care of my trucks "little brother".

X-Pel part numbers...

WedgewoodScrew,
Do you happen to have the X-Pel kit numbers for the various parts applied to your truck? I've already called about that locally but the guy doesn't think the 2004 kit is out yet...

Also, if you don't mind sharing, what did it cost you to get the film applied, or did you do it yourself?

Xpel

2004-Screw: Your installer is wrong. There are kits are out for the 04's. You can see them at the Xpel web site http://www.xpel.com./
by clicking on "shop" and putting in "ford", "truck", etc.etc., it will show you these part numbers for our trucks: P0533 Hood and Fender, P0533B Upper Bumper, H0533 Headlights & Driving Lights (much thicker material than the rest). As you know, any of the Lariats with a secondary color (AZ Beige) also have painted lower bumpers. The xpel site only give you an option for XLT and not Lariat and hence, doesn't show the lower bumper kit. My installer told me that the lower bumper kit would be out by early-November. Instead of waiting, my installer decided (with my approval) to "cut to fit" the lower bumper. I can't tell a difference. After talking with him prior to me deciding, I was convinced that this was not something I wanted to attempt. He sealed the deal when he told me his pricing. It was less expensive installed than it would have been for me to order the kits and do it myself. On top of that, if I screwed it up, I'd have had to pay for another. In my case the upper and lower bumpers, hood & fender, headlight and driving lights installed (with 8% sales tax included) came to $348.

Thanks for the info WWScrew!!

Driven the truck about 30 miles so far... I love it!! Still taking a little time to get used to the seats (I am hoping they will break in soon), but I do like it.

One minor ergonomic complaint... I wish the steering wheel had a telescoping adjustment like my Audi...

Otherwise, VERY pleased!

How much time??

2004-Screw, how much time between order date and delivery? I ordered an 04 on Nov.1, and was just curious how long the wait might be.

2004-screw i also have an Audi, my 2002 A4 (5700 miles) will be traded in for a 2004 FX4 Scab thanks to a drunk driver. Your are correct about the tilt and tel Ford missed the boat on this. Enjoy that new truck!!

Neil,

Here was my info!!

Receipt Date: 10/7/2003
Serialize Date: 10/9/2003
Segment Date: 10/9/2003
Sequence Date: 10/10/2003
Blend Date: 10/10/2003
Produced Date: 10/20/2003
Gate Release Date: 10/23/2003
Ship Date: 10/27/2003
Arrival Date: 11/6/2003

Now I at least tried to order my truck on 9/17/03. Everyone tells me that the within a day or two of ordering (if not same day) the order should show up under the "receipt date." I think my dealer goofed and actually didn't get the order entered until 10/7/03.. So I waited 4 weeks from receipt date to arrival. Is that a record?

I also tried to avoid options that would slow the truck down. At the time of my order things like the LT tires and running boards were an issue. I had them pull some running boards off another truck on the lot and put them on mine when it arrived.

Wow, that was quick. I hope mine goes through that fast.

Now for the next question....how did you obtain that info?

The last truck I ordered I was able to call an 800 number and enter the dealer ID number and order number. I no longer have the 800 number and I think FoMoCo got a bit ticked that everyone was calling. It was supposed to be for the dealers only.

Neil, I had to get the VIN# from my dealer. Once he provided that to me though, a nice fellow by name of BIGMACFX4 on this board was able to provide the updates.
