Update on the A R E i had on order.

It is on the truck and it is flawless.
The fit at the front corners is good.
Finished in black i could find no problems.

I just returned from two weeks in the Florida panhandle and SE Georgia vicinity...inspected many A.R.E. tonneaus on trucks in parking lots...noticed a difference in paint quality (superior) on eastern-made tonneaus vs. those coming out of the west coast plant (inferior).

$775.00 + $50.00 for the carpet liner installed?

Impressive price! I must be shopping at the wrooooong places.

I don't wish to imply Price Fixing but here in the Houston/Galveston area I cant seem to break the $899.99999999 to $925 price barrier (installed) for either brand. Bedliners, on the other hand, seem to hover around $315 to $330, be it bedrug, line-X or whatever.

Sounds like a Mississippi vacation might be in order...

SnugLid SL

I for one really like the SnugLid and have owned two so far. Their quality is very good and the fit has been outstanding. On Friday of this week, I'll have one put on my 04 Screw. Personally, I like the fact that the SnugLid is very low profile as compared to the Leer and ARE models. Since this truck has a big "***" to begin with, I was trying not to accentuate that. I know the higher profile covers would give me some additional "under the cap" storage space, but for me there is almost never a time when I max the bed out and need an additional couple of inches. As soon as I get the lid (and bedrug) installed, I'll post some pics on my site.

WedgewoodScrew...thanks for the comments on the Snuglid. I'm waiting to see an installation of their lid on an '04 after rejecting an A.R.E. Besides paint quality, I'm very interested in the fit of the Snuglid at the front bed corners when open (up). Also, I agree with you re: the lower profile. If possible, can you provide some close-up pics of the front corner area and front hinge area in open and closed positions. Thanks.

Edit-In my area price is $1,035 (painted/installed)...how about in your area?

I have one of the ******* X2000 covers on order for my FX4 SCrew, if it ever gets here. It too is very low profile like the Snuglid. I looked at Snuglid, but liked the easy off self contained hinge and strut setup they offered. It also has a carpeted underliner and battery operated dome light. Plus, no one in my area carries the Snuglid brand, so my options were limited. My lid should be about $1200 delivered and installed. These lids are supposed to have a high quality paint finish and good fit around the cab area. I emailed them and they said they should have pictures on their website within 2 weeks.

Curmugeon-
The Snuglid SL will cost me just under $950 installed and including 8% sales tax. The BedRug will be another $335 (also installed/tax). BTW, Snuglid has a coupon on their web site that will save you a few bucks ($20 I believe). I realize that isn't much considering what your paying but it's better than the proverbial "kick in the ***". IF it's installed tomorrow (Tues), Wed. or Friday, I'll get the pics on my gallery by the weekend and will make sure and get the front bed and hinge areas to help you in your evaluation on what you want.
