Unhappy Ride quality: Bumpy

So far I have testdriven 2 f150's.
Last Saturday, a 4x4 supercrew 5.4 and 2 weeks before that a 4x4 supercab 5.4.
Now, I am a Ford guy and I don't want to sound too negative but I am very disappointed.
We have some pretty good flat roads out here but both rides were so bumpy and I was not the only one noticing that.

Trucks were brand new ofcourse but do you think the bumpy ride will get better when it is older/broken in.
Is the suspension to stiff.

Like to know from you guys if your truck was a bit bumpy too and if it got any better or what you did to your truck to fix it.
People tell me that this is a truck and that the ride quality can't be compared to a normal car.

I think it is annoying and I never could live with that bumpy feeling.
When I decide to buy a new truck, it will be a regular cab 2 wd.
Do you think the reg cabs (wheelbase!!) will have better ride quality.

Sorry, don't want to sound too negative but I was very disappointed.
Other then that, the truck is superb.

Hope to hear your experiences about the bumpiness (sp!!)

Bumpy, compared to a stock car... but generally tolerable.

BTW - I see that you're in the NL... did you notice if your F150's there do not come with the ugly amber side reflectors as they do here in the US???

Here's what I am talking about...

No, the same here.
First I thought it was the turn signal indicator but it isn't.
That could be a problem here, I think.
I noticed that on the 24 movie and I checked it Saturday.
It is the bulb all the way on the right that is the turnsignal indicator, right?

Don't buy one! Problem solved.

Seriously though, if you don't like the ride you should buy a car made in the Netherlands. I'm sure you'll be much happier.

And I'm sure that being so clever YOU'll be able to name at least half a dozen Dutch car manufacturers.

My Lariat does not have a bumpy ride.

But i had to re prep. the truck after i took delivery.
Prep. work done at dealer was a wash job.
tires had 45 lbs air in all. I think this is the pressure
the factory uses to seat the bead.next ride have
service check tire pressure before road test.

Good point.
You mean that the tirepressure could be too high.

Trucks weren,t prepared yet by the dealer.
My first impression at the first testdrive was:unbalanced tire or something.
At the second one I thought, hey this truck is bumpy too.
Would it be likely to have an unbalanced tire also.
No!

That's why I ask here, $55,000 is a lot to me maybe not to
newbie TruBluScru seeing he's from CA. :o

Bouncy/Bumpy

Bumpy meaning feeling every bump (small bump) in the road.

I've driven 2 FX4's and they both felt pretty damn smooth. It's all relative to what you've driven before I guess. I'm driving a little Nissan truck now. I need a back massage if I drive it more than a few miles, so for me an F150 is pretty smooth.

I never felt the bumpy feeling in 1999 when I got my first 99 F150 American pickup.
That's why I was so surprised and disappointed about the bumpy ride.

F150Europe:

Overinflated tires will cause the truck's ride to feel like a tank on train tracks...to eliminate this possibility take a "good" analogue
tire pressure gauge with you....check all 4 tires dead cold...
Many of the vehicles Iv'e purchased over the years had GROSSLY
overinflated tires from the dealers lot plus uneven tire pressure among the four tires...therefore a hard jumpy bumpy ride...and if you like the truck and buy it, again check those tire pressures next morning after siting all night...also check your tires whenever you have seasonal temperature changes...it makes a BIG difference....good luck Europe on your selection.

F150Europe,
I agree with a previous post, do not buy the truck. It does not matter if its $55,000 or $ 10,000 if your not happy do not buy it...
I sometimes wonder if people just post stuff to see if they can get a reaction.
You are entiled to your opinon but your the first person in the 6 months I have been viewing this forum that said the truck is bumpy.
Think about how many people have taken delivery of this truck that post comments on this forum and not one person has said the truck is bumpy..... AMAZING !!!!
So, In my humble opinon, DO NOT BUY THE TRUCK.
