Has anyone looked at and felt their rotors?

I noticed there are "grooves" on mine when I ran my finger across, moreso on the rear passenger rotor than the others, although the "grooves" are slight, they're still present all the way around. I know that "scored" rotors require replacement but don't know if this is the same or if it's normal and will wear in after time.

I haven't noticed any braking issues and everything seems to be functioning properly.... any thoughts?

I planned on taking the truck back to the dealer @ 3k miles (currently have about 1700) for my free oil change... and a few other "little" issues (outside temp., slight pull to the right) and was wondered if I should include this or possibly take it in earlier if this is a problem. Either way, I'm gonna have them look at the brakes and rotors.

Grooves are a normal part of the wear process for brake rotors. They will have small grooves from where harder parts of the brake pads wear against the rotor. They shouldn't be a problem. If you haven't noticed a pulsing in the vehicle/brake pedal when you brake normally you should be ok. The only thing "wrong" that could be causing a problem is a caliper sticking. This would result in the pads continously rubbing against the rotor. In this case I woul expect extensive heating and warping of the rotor. This would show up as the pulsing I asked about above.

If the caliper is sticking you should also notice more pad wear on one pad (usually the outer) as compared to the other pad.

cool, thanks ! I was hoping it wasn't a problem... and there's been no pulsing, rubbing or sticking that I've noticed. It seems to brake very smoothly. I'll mention it to the dealer when I take it in for the little things I've mentioned and see what they have to say... it wouldn't hurt to have 'em look at it.

Thanks again.
