Yes, order another truck, changing out two ring and pinions is a very expensive thing. If the truck is misbuilt, Ford will pay for it, but if its as ordered (by the dealer) and has the 3.55 on the sticker, you'll need to order another truck. You might have them try locating one, there is starting to be a better inventory so they might be able to find one like you want.

Don't take it.

I would NOT take the truck!

XCR440SP commented on inventory and he is right. Most likely if you refuse the truck the dealer can find you another one built to your specs already on a lot, so there would be little to no wait.

You can look at inventory's your self and see using the www.forddirect.com web site.

Capital Ford in Raleigh NC has 113 new body style 2004's (zip code 27616)..... I'm sure there is a dealer in your area that is loaded down with trucks like this too for you to choose from.

Good luck

FYI- I was behind a new Black Fx4 F-150 yesterday that was obviously being delivered to another dealership on hwy 75. AT TIMES THE GUY DRIVING-(OLDER MID 40'S AND WEARING SHIRT/ TIE) WAS GOING AS FAST AS 100 mph!!!! I know that engine could not be broken in yet. This is why I ordered my truck.

Make them order you a new one and then ask for a demo to drive until it comes in. Make up some story about having your current car sold. If nothing-order from someone else.

I would refuse the order and check to see what they have coming in for their stock. You might be able to get a truck with more than you ordered for the same price.
