daystar lit installed...wow
I just went out and measured a clearance of 1.75" (to front trim and to rear well trim - running boards) when the tires are positioned at their closest point...tons of room avaliable.

wow that's more than I thought, so if my mat is correct 33+ 1.75" (front clearance) + 1.75" (Back clearance) = 36.5 max possible tire size with lift. of coarse I wouldn't go bigger than 35.5 so you have a half inch clearance in the front and back to compinsate for bumps in the road and what not. there is no doubt in my mind that 35's will fit with that lift they might even fit without it but it would be a tighter fit than I would care to try.
Jasonkola- If we are going to get down to tenths...then you should use 32.8" rather than the 33" in your calculations...for the BFG 285-65-18's per www.tirerack.com I will post some pics of the measurements with the tape tomorrow afternoon. How do you post a pic here (in your message- without going to the gallery)?

go to your gallery and choose the pick you want. click on "forum codes." When the box pops up highlight and copy the "thumbnail image address" into your reply. This will put the picture in your post.
Have you noticed any difference in the ride of your truck with the lift and tires? How much clearance were you left with between the rear tires and the rear shocks? And if you dont mind me asking, how much did those tires run you? You did pretty much exactly what Im going to do to my truck so Im just trying to get some answers. By the way, KICK *** truck!!!
I have those tires on my truck sell almost I got the 285/70/17's. same tire diameter and width. I got over an inch clearance at the rear shocks. I did notice a ride difference with the new tires. I can feel the little bumps in the road more clearly with the new tires. these tires don't feel as soft. I haven't noticed any freeway noise from these tires at all. even when I drift over and hit those notches they cut in the middle of the highway to let you know you are drifting across the center line. just felt the vibration through the rig. bit I did hear that center line pretty clearly when I rolled my window down but not anything from the tires on the highway. I think ford has the cabin so sound insilated that you could put some real loud tires on and never know it unless you rolled the window down. I haven't put that lift in my truck yet but I plan on doing so. I know those questions of yours weren't ment tword me but I thought I would share my experience with those bfg tires.
As jasonkola said...the clearance between the rear tires and shocks measures 1.25". After the mods, the ride is still great...if anything I slightly notice the road a bit at slow speeds but that was after the new tires. After lift and before new tires, I really didn't notice any ride difference but I only had a day and a half driving around town. These tires are awesome...no noise on highway but as jasonkola mentioned, could be present but the new cabin design is so quiet.
BFG is very proud of the new size 285-65-18 TA KO's...www.tirerack.com has the best price I have seen at 211/each +shipping(?) + local installation(?). I had a local dealer order and install the tires and I paid too much (280/installed/each) but I wanted them bad. I did have to get the front end realigned and that helped remove a slight vibration after the lift and BFG's. The truck seems so much bigger now.

Hay bmcqueen did you get your head lights realighned I was thinking I might have to when I get my lift in. Those headlights are bright you dont want them pointing to much upward in peoples eyes.
also for those trying to get the best deal on your tires you might try finding the best deal on the net like tire rack or www.online tires.com and asking your local tire dealer if they will match the price. my dealer matched the price and I didn't have to pay the $53 shipping so I actually got a better deal than I could have got on the net. I just thought I would let you know what worked for me. it might not work for everyone. I was actually suprised my dealer offered to match the internet price. he said he was only makeing $5 profit off each tire. bit he will make $15 or so off each stock tire I traded in for $60 each when he sells them.

My dealer wouldn't play...wouldn't even take the 18" GY AT-S's on trade because there is such a small market on 18" tires. I never thought about the lights...I will keep an eye on that.

BMCQUEEN did u get the black or red spacers? just got a set of red (didn't know they were red) and need to know how visible they are from the wheel well....thanks! I really want the black ones
maybe a dumb question but although it seems that 35" tall tires will fit...what width of 35" tires will fit?
wouldnt want the "pizza cutter" affect...and the out-board mounted shock will limit the width...
my personal taste is a good mix and height and width...i like the proportion to look right...too high and it looks off and too wide it also looks off...
edit-never mind...i read through the pages and pages of the other thread about larger tires and found my answers
