Storage options for Screw . . .
Storage options for Screw . . .
I'll be getting my truck soon (shipped 10/9/03) and I'm giving up a good bit of hidden storage space that I had my Land Rover Disco. Wondering if anyone has put either a truck box on their Screw or has any other storage suggestions.
With a 5.5 foot bed a truck box is really going to cut down on what I can haul but it's something I'll use just about every day. Just how easy are they to remove out of the truck when you need to haul something?

MCG:
A truck box is not something you want to be removable from your vehicle. In fact, that sucker ought to be bolted down to where it is near impossible TO remove. Reason: I know a guy who was involved in a head on collision. His truck box was not bolted down and it came through the cab and damaged his spinal chord. He is now in a wheelchair paralyzed from the chest down. I have also seen other accounts of this type of accident reported in newspapers. I don't necessarily think having a truck box is unsafe, I would just make sure to bolt it in place.

SCrew Storage
Yeah, you REALLY need to make sure whatever is in the back is secured!!! I just got my SCrew today and I am thinking about a diamond plate fender well box. It fits from the top of the tire hump in the bed to the tailgate. It is very shallow over the wheel, gaining depth to full bed depth towards the tailgate. It gives you full capacity of the bed between the wheel humps. (I hope I made that clear).
I have a DeeZee wheel well box (sometimes called pork chop boxes) on the driver side and it is just the right amount of storage for me, and also I did not wanna give up the tailgate to cab length of space since I have a short box.
