I was at the dealer the other day and they had a GAP grill that is made to go in that spot. I too thought that there was a missing part on my truck until I noticed other trucks with the same thing. I installed overlay grilles on mine.

I've filled out the order form 4 times, but refused to click on the SEND button. Just can't talk myself into paying $57 dollars for a $5 piece of plastic.

Ford has saved a mint by leaving this part out. Their excuse for a "foot hole" to reach the back of the engine is BS at it's maxim.

BTW, how much does Abbette's charge for ship&handling? Has anybody tried contacting them about a group buy discount recently?

I took the dive on this today...found out one of our Ford dealers sells this GAP grille. Yeah, it's expensive, but I like the honeycomb grilles and don't plan on going aftermarket or billet anytime soon.

Guy gave me 10 bucks off after I found out it was 54.95 and almost walked. It snaps in easily and is held on with little "teeth" clips.

Since I almost spent that much on a trailer hitch cover, I consider the look worth it.

Lariats and FX4's have the open bottom grill area. I bought a Carriage Works
lower billet grill in black, looks good. I have to admit, it does look cheep without the lower billet grill, like there is something missing.

In redman_a12's defense, he was posting a new/alternate place to buy the G.A.P. He wasn't acting like he was the first one to find some new item. The www.F150store.com just started carrying it. So, powerage was a little quick to fire one off in my opinion. Now say you're sorry and make up.
