Dealer installed Ford Bedliner.. Any comments ?

I'm thinking about having the dealer throw one in, just cause its one less thing to worry about down the road.
Any help is appreciated.

i think the consensus around here is to go with a spray in bedliner. i've seen dealers charging up to $550 for a drop-in Ford bedliner. that is just ridiculous when you can get a Line-X sprayed in for $300-$400. i will be going with a spray-in for sure.

Don't do it unless they give it to you for FREE! They are cheap and worth about 50 bucks. Get the spray on instead for that kind of money.

Due to the competition between Ford dealerships in my area, drop in bed liners are usually in the ballpark of $150. installed if not simply thrown in as my was. These are Ford branded bed liners. The Ford liner I had in my 00 was made by Durra Liner and had the Dura Liner logo on the side. The one in my 04 just says Ford but it looks like it may still be made by Dura Liner. Many on this board love the spray in liners but as has been noted, they fade and the bed will still get dented if abused. The drop in liners do not appear to fade and throwing a 4X6 into the bed may actually dent it but you will not know it. Naturally there is the argument about stuff sliding around on drop in liners and not doing so with spray ins – bunk, stuff will slide on either. XCR probably knows the dealer cost from Ford on the drop ins; I suspect dealer cost is around $100. So, paying $550. is ridicules and definitely warrants a look at the spray in type. At $150 or free, the drop in, in my opinion, gets the nod. By the way, I removed the drop in from my 00 before selling it and after a bit of cleaning the bed showed virtually no wear and there was no rust but then, I live in the south.

Wink GO SPRAY IN ALL THE WAY

I got the spray in bedliner and man is it sweet. Much better looking than the place in and it also stays rubbery so things don't slide around in the back like they would if you had no bedliner or the drop in one. I definitely recommend the spray in.

Only get it if they give it to you for FREE. You can get the spray on for that price, or a bedrug..

don't drop in bedliners cover up the tie down hooks? i know linex sprays them so you can still use them and I would definately want to be able to use my hooks.

When I got my Line-X, they took out ALL of the hardware and bolts before spraying... and replaced them when finished.

Tie down hooks

I purchased a Ford Factory bedliner from a dealer in my area. The cost was $199.00 plus tax. They wanted $40.00 to install it.
I decided to install it myself. The two rear tie downs must be removed to install the liner and reinstalled after the liner is in. The front tie downs are slightly different. They are mounted in an oval nock out which overlaps the cut out in the liner. Easy enough.
The install instructions for the tail gate cover recommended a torx wrench and a jig saw as required install tools.

I returned the liner and went with a spray in instead.

Best regards

The BedRug sure does look nice. Check them out. Really depends what you are going to use your truck for but don't discount them until you look. BedRug is my choice but I don't do any serius hauling. Just my 2 cents.
