Just talked to the dealer again. Ordered 9/4. Still doesn't have a VIN. She said she normally doesn't get calls for VINs. So I'm hoping she just doesn't know where to look. I'm still going on the assumption it's being built this week.

 

Tell her to log on to the Ford computer called Conceps, this can be done from www.fmcdealer.com or on the Fordstar terminal. After logging in with their password and user ID:

A <rtrn> (takes your to Conceps)

1 <rtrn> (vehicle ordering altering and tracking menu)

2 <rtrn> (vehicle status inquiry menu)

1 <rtrn> (Single vehicle inqury menu)

Then enter the model year (04), body type (w14 SuperCrew 4x4, X14 Supercab 4x4, etc) and the order number and then press return. It will show the 1st 2 and last 8 of the VIN, ETA, and current status. Here's an example:

Just locate your order number and there is your complete VIN. This is assuming the truck is scheduled. If not it will just say UNSCH/CLEAN like those above.

 

I have a question!! The dealer gave me my VIN about 3 weeks ago, and using that VIN number first LightningKid and then BigMacFx gave me my dates (see below). Why is it when she (she says she does) looks up my truck her system (it is CONCEPS) supposedly tells her that my truck show TBD for build (as of Monday morning). How often is this information updated. I am just curious. I have asked her repeatedly to confirm that this is in fact my VIN number, which she does. I have a copy of my DORA.

The dealer is probably refering to the arrival date as these usually say TBD for a long time. They should have a build date, but most dealers don't care about build date, only arrival date. I often have units arrive and they still have TBD for ETA.

 

So XCR, using your best judgement...If I ordered on 9/4/03, it should at least be somewhere further along in the process now right? Not still sitting there waiting for a VIN, like it was on day one? This is most likely dealer ignorance? Do you think she is focusing on that arrival date thing too, and just not really knowing or finding out the proper way to get a VIN?

It depends what you ordered, if its a SuperCrew with two-tone, I bet you don't have a vin or a build date yet, otherwise its probably been serialized, but not definately. If she were looking at the TBD date for delivery the Vin should be right next to it so you should have that, since she can't get you a VIN, I'd suspect that it hasn't been scheduled yet, but thats just a guess.

 

Well that stinks. You could have at least lied to me to make me happy. I was just checking because I did order a SCrew w/ two-tone, but I have seen a lot of others who did also, who had their info, I was seeking. And they ordered within a week of me, if not the sam eday. So I was just hoping she was dumb.

I'm right there with you man... I ordered 2nd week of September and also don't have a VIN yet. Fully loaded Screw with two tone. The only options I left off were running boards and the LT tires/skid plates...

Don't know what happened buy it didn't arrive? Try sendin one through the profile button on the bottom, thats a differnent email account.

It will not make you feel any better but, I ordered my 4X2 Super Crew two-tone in April. According to the dealer, the VIN was not assigned until mid July, the truck as built the week of Sept 08 and tit arrived at the dealership on Sept 19th. Hoping for some incentive to be announced, Oct 01 I did nto take delivery until Oct 03 (naturally, without any incentive).

Many post and great info from XCR on how Ford schedules vehicles - does not appear to be by demand but by what has been pre-determined to be built (3 out of 100 being two tone and etc.)

Yeah, I know. But for early orders like yours, I take into account that they didn't start building Screws until July 17th. So yours took longer because they, first weren't making them. And second probably had a large back-log when they did start them.

I know of all the things that cause delays from the billions of posts about them. I was just getting annoyed about the other orders similar to mine getting VINs. I guess I should stop my whining. I'm sure everyone is getting tired of it. It'll get here eventually.

 

I ordered my Screw two tone on the 10th of September and still donīt have anything other than a Dora from Ford with no vin number and still not scheduled.
