sparetires

Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket product similar to the one in the link I provided. I'm looking to be able to mount 2 larger then factory spare tires on the back of my truck without cutting or drilling into my new truck. Ideally it would bolt on somewhere and be removable so it isn't a permanent fixture while driving in the city. Then when it's time to go to baja bolt it on and keep the extra tires out of the bed area so I can still use the bed for other things.

Speaking of spare tires, I noticed a keyhole on the back bumper of an FX4 I was looking at. Is that to raise and lower the spare tire? The spare tire mechanism is not usually a feature I make sure to check out when purchasing a vehicle and I never really took notice of it, or saw it, before.

The keyed lock is to restrict access to the spare tire lift/lowering mechanism. It's an attempt to protect your spare tire from theft.

Ahh. Thank you. Well then, they should make it so you can lift and lower w/ the key. Turn and holt it to the right to lower. Turn and hold to the left to raise.

I was under my screw and there is an electric motor by the spare tire!

I see the key but no place to put a crank handle...

key operated spare....

I was checking out the interior and thought it would be nice to get a slice of pizza directly from the glovebox on demand.
I opened the door and there was a little guy in there with a white chefs hat.
I said, "Hey dude, where's my pizza?"
He said, "That comes out on the '05 model.'

damn!

SPEAKING OF SPARE TIRES, HAS ANYONE UNDONE THE LUG WRENCH AND EXTENSION HANDLE, ? I UNDONE MINE AND IT TOOK ME ABOUT 30 MINUTES TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET ALL THAT STUFF REWRAPED AND PUT BACK LIKE IT WAS. THE TOOL STORAGE IS NOT A GOOD THING, IMHO.

Well it looks like I'm gonna have to have one custom made. I'm getting estimates from places now and will let you all know what I find out.

As far as the spare goes I just put on 285/70/R17's and it fits in the spare tire well under the bed! That was a nice suprise so now it looks like I only need to mount one spare tire on the back or somewhere else. Don't want it in the bed and want the tailgate to still open and close.

If anyone is interested I'm selling the stock tires all 5.
