FX it?
FX it?
I blame Ford for my indecision:
I really like the look of the new FX4 (sport look), but not so keen on the limited color selection. I really like the interior and extra bells and whistles of the Lariat, but not the Arizona Beige trim or chrome accents.
Sooooooo....... what do you all think about a bastardization concept: I am thinking of ordering a Lariat with Wedgewood Blue or Toreador Red with the Arizona Beige two tone exterior (so I don't get chrome bumpers) and black leather interior. Then I would repaint the Arizona Beige two tone (fender trim, bumpers, and lower-sides) as Charcoal Gray, powder coat the chrome bezel as the body color, and powder coat the grill insert Charcoal Gray also. I would also add some side steps that would get the same Charcoal Gray powder coat treatment to match the trim. Having already powder coated some pieces on my 2002 Crew, it is not unreasonable, and the powder coating process is very durable, even over chrome. The look would be FX4ish (minus decals) with the great Lariat black leather interior and comfort features. Sure would be unique looking.
Maybe someone with Photoshop has already played with this idea. Be cool to see some pics.
Okay, maybe I won't really do it, but thought it might make for fun discussion.
Cheers!

i think it would just be way too much work for the buck.... plus, there are only a small few select interior options that the Lariat has over the FX4, but to me they aren't exactly anything "to die for" or "must have"...plus, the interior of the FX4 looks better in the black than the Lariat black does in my opinion...and since you'd be making it look more like the FX4 anyway, just save the cash and get an FX4 with the added Lariat options... would cost less that way...
You're right. The Lariat interior just struck me, maybe because I haven't seen a black leather interior for the FX4 (the dealer nearby has only had cloth or the medium flint leather). Anyway, thought it would be fun to conceptualize taking the best features from both, especially since I like some of the available colors for the Lariat.
