Question Tire question...

I've just ordered a SuperCrew Lariat 4x4 with pretty much every option except the running boards, tire upgrade and skid plates...

But, my dealer faxed over the confirmation today and he added the skid plates and LT275 tires... I don't know if it is enough for me to cancel and re-enter, but I wanted to know the difference between the LT275 tires and the P265 tires...

1) Do the LT275 tires cause the truck to ride higher?
2) Is the rubber softer? How does tread life compare?
3) Will the ride suffer any for the LT275 tires? Is it louder?

I ask because I was under the impression that the LT tires were more of an offroad tire and that the P tires were more of a passenger tire. Since I don't offroad much, I'm more concerned with ride comfort and quietness.

Any information woud be appreciated. Thanks!

The LT tires have a stiffer sidewal and are supposed to be used for trucks that haul more often. They will ride stiffer and be a little noisier. IF you want comfort and quiet, you want the P tires.

Biggest problem is LT's (which I am getting on my truck) are a commidity. See XCR's posts on this. Currently on 5 out of every 100 are built with LT tires.

Biggest problem is they link the two adds the dealer put on. If you put on skid plates, a good idea even if you don't offroad (Extra protection for fuel tank, transfer case, and oil pan from road debris if nothing else) you automatically get added to the list for LT tires. This is a real PITA when you don't necessarily need the LT tires.
