Question for 2004 F150 owners!

Let me start by saying I own a 2003 Dodge Ram 4x4 off-road w/ 5.7 HEMI. The last 3 trucks I have owned have been Dodge and Chevy before that. I never liked the looks of the 1/2 ton Ford until now. I always loved the F250 just couldn't afford one. My dad owns nothing but Ford since I can remember. Anyway I like the looks of the new F150 and the tow ratings on these things are thru the roof but I have some questions before I seriously consider the new truck.

1. The bed being so tall is it hard to see behind you? Especially when towing seems like you couldn't see the trailer.

2. I heard there is a bad blind spot on the extracab models? Is this true?

3. I would love a crewcab but does it only come in a 5.5ft. bed?

I love my HEMI engine but the suspension on the new Dodge trucks suck. Any weight at all make the backend sag. And GOD forbid if you put weight on the tongue! I pull a tractor and horses and the HEMI will get me up to 75mph on an onramp without any problems. Seems like the 5.4 might even be better for towing because of peak torque at a lower RPM. If I wanted to race I would have bought a 2wd.

I haven´t gotten my new F150 yet but I can tell you that the supercrew only comes in the 5.5 bed. There are rumors of a change to a 6.5 for next year but I would be skeptical.

KLSU,
You said weight in the bed makes the suspension sag? Are you just talking bout the back going down a little or bottoming out? My old 95 f150 just hauled a skid of bricks that weighed around 2100 lbs, now it did not haul it well, but was not close to bottoming out. Crewcab wise, yeah it is only in the 5.5 currently, of course there is always talk of a 6.5 box, but it's just talk right now. I would personally love the 6.5 box in the supercrew. I have not had a chance to drive one yet, but I would think that the high bed might interfere with seeing the trailer, but I use my side mirrors more cause I haul snowmobile trailers and they are very wide (101")

Anything in the bed or towing. The suspension sucks bad. If I keep then I am going to add an active suspension system. I just finished building a house and I had 1 pallet of shingles left over so I loaded it on my trailer but I put it at the front so I could tie it down. The truck bottomed out so much I could even get the trailer off the truck I had to move the shingles to the middle of the trailer. I know it was on the tounge but damn 1 pallet of shingles? I had a 2001 Dodge that I could load a tractor on close to the front and it wouldn't budge.

I've had my truck for one week and 1500 miles, and I have noticed that the bed is tall. Yes, it restricts your rearward view.

On the other hand, the mirrors are huge and have a great view rearward, and the tailgate goes down.....

I've put some big miles on my truck in the last week, and I really like it. It's quiet, comfortable, and tight.

PS: This is my first post.
