6 Disk CD Changer Question
6 Disk CD Changer Question
I am looking to get a FX4 at a local dealer. It has the 6 disk CD changer. I was wondering if you could order the audiofile system upgrades from Ford? Any help on this would be great.
I'm pretty sure that bluedevilsfan is asking about upgrading an existing 6-Disc system to the Audiophile system.
I'm sure that you could order the parts to do this on your own, but it would be very expensive. It's a different 6-Disc head unit, different door speakers, the subwoofer, and more amplification, though I don't know if it uses an external or modified internal amplifer(s). You'd likely have to add wiring for the sub as well.
It would likely be much better to find a truck equipped this way to begin with or order one that way than to try and do an upgrade. Given the likely cost, an aftermarket system would give you much more bang for the buck, IMHO.

The Audiophile 6-Disc head unit features RDS (Radio Data System) functionality for getting station information and priority news alerts if the stations in your area broadcast the information (the U.S. has been very slow to adopt this) and feature some DSP (Digital Signal Processing) to "shape" the sound for primary seating locations and ambiance. So, it is the same in appearance, but has more features.
I gotta tell ya, I've had my truck for a week and the normal 6 disk is pretty nice. Why not just put in a Bazooka if you need the extra bass (which I don't, ......already have hearing damage)?
