the step you are talking about is called "flareside." it is a type of truck bed design. there is "styleside" which is the normal truck style without a step. most F-150 styles are available in flareside design, although there may be exceptions. try www.forddirect.com or www.edmunds.com to see pictures and check out prices.

You would be refering to the "flareside" bed which is available on all the models of 04 truck(XL, STX, XLT, FX, AND LARIAT) and if you go to the www.fordvehicles.com website you can look through the whole lineup.

That's a Flareside, as opposed to a Styleside. You can use Ford Vehicles to build a truck.
